Default ww1 Battlefields via google maps

Type in Newfoundland memorial on google maps, if you zoom in, go off to the right aways to the end of a field, you can make out the vauge outlines of a former trench.

There are alot of Newfoundland Memorials on google maps. And why should there be a trench in Canada?

Not sure if it's the same one...But I saw a newfoundland memorial in France/Belgium when I went on a field trip there, and there were preserved trenches in and around the area (from the Somme, up to the Flanders area)

Newfoundland did not fight at Vimy. Maybe he is talking about the memorial at Beaumont Hamel?

yeah, im sorry. I didn't clarify. was reading a book about the somme, and somme battles. looking at the area nowadays, you can see why so many people died there, its all flat. nowhere to hide.
