Default Separation of Early and Late Campaigns

I was wondering, if I start an early campaign...can I play till 1220AD and then the late Campaign kicks in? Do they blend together? Or are they completely separate? Why don't they blend?

    More curiosity I guess.

They are the same, only the start date is changed and which settlements each faction has is changed. Late is for people who don't want to start with pitchforks.

You can also play any campaign until your computer blows up.

What do you mean? If you play early you will get all units available in late. In late you might miss some of the earlier units.

What about the emergence of factions like the Teutonic Knights, as they are not available in the early campaign?

Teutons are playable in late campaign.

There are very few units if any that you miss by playing late as the first events don't start happening until 1300 approaches that start making units obsolete.

Timurids are the only faction currently not playable in early or late campaign. In 6.2 1450 campaign they are playable and in Tears of Destiny 1370 submod being worked on now they will be playable.

The are emergent in early. They show up in 1190. You can only play them in late. Same with Mongols.

Also you can play forever if you want. You will get all the units.

It's like starting a football game later. You still get to play until the end but you miss the early stuff. The only reason there's a late campaign is because some players wish to skip the early stage. So all in all early starts from 1100 and goes until the game is finished and of course you'll have access to all troops. The late campaign starts later (duh) and just skips the early period where there's a lot of militia troops, thou you do use militia troops and other weak troops in late too, you're more advanced and can more Quickly recruit better troops.
Also another difference is that in the late campaign the map is different, since it represents factions boundaries 120 years later.

Map's the same. Factions just start with different settlements/armies.

    Thanks all -

I knew the Teutons were available in the late campaign, and get how the maps/borders have changed after 100+ years. But if Poland/Russia/Denmark have taken up the Teutons homelands, where do they start?...Armies just appear?

In early, yes they just appear and start attacking. Be ready if you have lands over there.
