Making bayonets appear
I've given the bayonet ability to a home-made dragoon unit and I know it's working because it appears in their abilities card and I can see the melee bonuses. But there are no bayonets on the models. Is it possible to get the bayonets to appear using just text editing, without resorting to modelling my own, as I have no expertise with GIMP?

its probably because dragoons use carbines, and they probably cant haveboynets on, try giving your dragoons muskets, but increase their accuracy to balance there slight lack of range

I've done that, the models are visibly carrying muskets rather than carbines but still no bayonet.

have you tried giving the dragoons the plug bayonet technology in the dbtables, i think it is in unit_to_unit_abilities_table, you also will probably have to change the dragoons melee animation set to bayonet (or whatever, just look at a line infantry variant in the unit_stats_land_table so they use bayonets like bayonets

yep, I've changed everything I can find that could possibly relate to bayonets or muskets. They are using muskets rather than carbine, you can see that on the model, and they do have bayonets, they just don't appear on the model. I'm rather stumped. Could it be connected with the fact that they have horses?
EDIT: I've done some experiments and if I take away their horses, they have bayonets but when I put them back on horses, even if I keep the infantry animation and warscape equipment theme, they have no bayonets. So I've come to the conclusion that a mounted unit cannot have a bayonet.
