You can build brothels in cities, I think from Towns, they recruit spies. Then I think in Large Towns you can upgrade your brothel to an Inn, and then you can recruit Assassins.

As a second note, if you want good assassins recruit a lot, because in training a lot will die.

Start with rebel captains. When they get to 90% success rate, move up to other faction's captains. When that gets to 90%, start killing low level diplomats/priests/princesses of other nations who are walking through your land. This stage is the toughest, but eventually you can have epic assassins . I got a maxed-out subterfuge assassin when he was only at the age of 38; I am certain that it can be done a lot sooner than that. That same assassin, working witha colleague of his who got maxed-out subterfuge a couple turns later, killed off numerous (probably half a dozen) Moorish Sultans, combined with Princes/Regular family members. When they got old I decided to have some fun by shipping them to Italy and going on a killing rampage, killing everything that moved

Or you could just sabotage religious buildings.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

In my experience low level diplomats, princesses and heretics are quite easy to kill. I think I usually have a 90 or 95% success rate with relatively 'green' assassins. When they are on higher levels they are a pain tho.

I had a fun experience with assassination just last night.. The muslim prince asked me to kill his father for a hefty 5,000. He was quite close so I sent an assassin and I got him. It just so happened the son and the father were at the same location. The son then became faction leader and I got my 5,000 gold. Then right the nex turn the grandson asked me to kill his father. What a up family! But it was a very welcome 10,000 gold!

you can recruit them at the Inn or above , or Shisda Den and above for Muslims or above.

They're not very good most of the time, unless you use a lot of them and have a spy with them - seems to help in my opinion. Get them to train fist by killing rebel captains, and characters that are in your lands such as heretics, witches, diplomats and merchants. Then you should see their traits and skill will go up. For some factions, pumping out assasins will get you Hashashim (muslims) or Battlefield assasins (hungary) in that city.
Be careful with trying to kill other factions characters - because if you fail, your relations with them will be lower - so be prepared to have war with them just in case (ie. if you're weak and playing as byzantium, don't try to assasinate the mongol khan).

I think the city that get's the possibility to train hashashims/bf assassins is random, not related to the level of the brothels there or how many assassins you train there. Once you have enough points to get a guild, I think it appears in the next city you evolve. When playing as Egypt, it appeared at Jedda, the most remote (after Dongola) and useless-to-train-units region I had. It sucked to have the hashashims travel all the way to the frontlines.

I had that happen in my current campaign, in baghdad where i wasn't recruiting any assasins, but previously I got hashisham guilds offers in all the cities that I was mass producing assasins, and eventually the headquaters in jerusalem which was my main assasin factory... ( killing european family members on their way to crusade my city =P ) . Maybe it is related to recruitment of assasins in general, regardless of where you actually recruit them?

    isn't it useless to assasinate FMs ? I mean, in RTW, even if a stack led by a FM is in the middle of the desert and you kill him, the next turn another FM (very young and with high command/management and very good traits of course) pops out;
I don't know how if in M2TW is the same thing, I don't use them, only spies
Înfrânt nu eşti atunci când sângeri,
nici ochii când în lacrimi ţi-s.
    Adevăratele înfrângeri,
    sunt renunţările la vis.

The rest of them were not close by. What happens when you kill all faction leaders? A new one appears? The faction becomes rebel?

when you kill a faction leader the heir takes its place,if thats what you were asking

if a faction gets wiped out its becomes rebel

if a faction is low on family memebrs they adopt one like every turn(very annoying

Shouldn't they have a limit however? After say killing the four sons of the last family member, shouldn't he be unable to adopt any more children on the fact all four child slots are already occupied?
