alright thanks guys
I installed it on my desktop and it installed. Now I have a bunch of files on my desktop. Next step? I tried clicking the Shortcut and it didn't open the game, just the black box for a sec. So what do I have to do to make it playable?
Broken Crescent. It wouldn't install in my program files, so I installed it on my desktop. Now what?
sorry, if the installation guidance insīt clearly. What it means:
1. Install Medieval2 -- when the installer asks where to install, choose "c:\sega" or "c:\games\Sega". donīt install in program files.
2. patch medieval2 to 1.2
3. patch medieval2 to 1.3
4. install broken crescent --when the installer asks where to install, choose your medieval2 folder (for example c:\games\Sega\Medieval II Total War\
Thatīs it. There are different guidance for medieval2 kingdoms and steam.
The reason: Vista and Win7 block somtimes the access to c:\program files.
But I already have M2TW installed in the program files...what about then?
You need to uninstall it and install outside Program Files (outside, not inside).
Both M2TW and BC need to be installed outside Program Files, but BC needs to be installed in the main M2TW folder, e.g. "c:\sega\M2TW" or "c:\games\Sega\M2TW".
Ok. What about if I was using an XP computer? than everything should go fine in the program files folder?
Ok. Well originally I was trying to install it on my new-ish laptop (windows 7) but I will be installing it on my desktop tonight (XP). Ill see how it goes and make sure it works. Ill let you guys know
Gold... unfortunately... I miss the days where when I took an island it never got invaded by ai...sigh. lol
I had 1.0 installed for the longest time and that worked fine. now i am trying to install this (1.0 is gone) so that I can play in a BC hotseat
in this case try to install only the main game (is that right?). i mean: if you start the gold installer and it asks what to install, deselect everything. in this way it will install only medieval2. when finished start the game and take a look in the options. the medieval 2 version should be 1.3.
you will join the tavix HS. aahh... my beautiful georgia. good choice!
Well, you need to be more specific next time, because "desktop" refers to two different things.
Now I don't know whether you have installed M2TW in Program Files, and BC on the desktop - both on one computer - and for obvious reason BC doesn't work, or you have M2TW installed in Program Files of your XP on your desktop computer (as opposed to laptop) and you are going to install BC there (on XP, in Program Files).
Anyway, BC has to be installed into M2TW directory, and it is always safer to install games outside Program Files - the only problem I see is free space on HDD, but if you have it enough, then there is simply no point in installing a game in Program Files, because that only might result is some problems later, and afaik there are no advantages of having a game in PF directory.
