when i start medieval 2 total war ( or kingdoms) a sudden recycling/deleting message arrives and says deleting 1 item 0 bytes from roaming.the massage just does nothing and its neverending when i cancel it it just keeps on canceling, i can not play the game because while the deleting 1 item 0 bytes from roaming message is there.each time i start the game the message appears i uninstalled the game many times but i still get the smae answer! i went on google and other people have this problem and they just give up and stop playing the game.
medieval 2 total war is my favorite pc game i have, its frustrating any help at all will be appreciated.

First off, where did you buy the game? Is it a digital download from a reputed dealer?

Next, what OS are you running on? Vista? Win7? There should not be any reason for M2 to run an error message like this - the game wasn't written for it. What Anti-Virus software are you running?

Lastly, would it be possible for you to take a screen grab of the error message? Something doesn't seem right here....

Disable the UAC, uninstall the game delete both Sega folders, run a registry cleaner, reboot, reinstall in C:\Games.

Also run Windows Update manually and install all software updates.

Have you scanned your system for viruses recently? Maybe check for a Windows pre-fetch virus? Good luck!

Find a restore point before you got the first message and do a system restore.

What happens if you disable MacAffee and just use Windows Security Essentials?

I know nothing about McAfee but the wars between it and Symantec since its inception and some over the years saying its garbage.

I can turn off my Zone Alarm in my icon on the taskbar. If McAfee is like a couple of others, you may have to uninstall it.

cg123 - Thanks for posting the screen grab earlier. I'd like you to make another screen grab - but this time can you hit the button on the bottom of that error window that says "More Information" and post that picture. I have a feeling that may break this open for us. At the least I think it might give us an idea where/what the file is that is causing your problems.

    Thanks and good luck!

Oh, and try uninstalling McAfee as irishron has suggested. But I'll be honest - something here is strange even accounting for Vista's problems....

Yeah, that pretty much was what I expected but I was hoping for better. That window doesn't have the file name that's hanging you up.

After a quick bit of digging it seems others have had to go into a DOS window and manually delete the offending file. It looks like it may be some corrupted temp file that just doesn't know how to be deleted.

How familiar with DOS are you?
