    Default mss32.dll help

    ok it started when i tried to start rome total war bi and i got the message rome total war unable to locate component, i have been on google to try and fix it i received a link to the mss32.dll and the link had the mss32.dll in it when i placed it in the correct folder i got the miles error installed in windows directory after i finished ( i had to delete it ) that i still get the error message rometw-bi.exe - unable to locate component message.

    i have windows vista,

    sorry if the message is hard to understand im new to forums.

    The mss32.dll file relates to the miles sound system that is used by the game.

    The following is a screen shot showing the contents of a RTW BI install 'game folder' (ignore the 'Alexander' folder and 'alexander.ico' as these are part of the Alexander expansion) :

    As these files have not been modified by anyone we cannot upload any of them for you as to do so would be a breach of the TWC ToS which we've all agreed to.

    i got the game from the store ( gold edition) and i have updated the game.
    also added info i have mods to the game, im trying to figure out if the mods i have is causing the problems.

    Well, mods should not delete these files as they are fairly essential for the game to play.

    The suggested method of using RTW for mods is to keep a 'clean' (unmodded) install of RTW and simply copy that for a mod. If they are mod foldered (RSII is not) then more than one mod could share the same copy of the game. Personally, I keep each mod in it's own copy of the 'clean' RTW install.
