    Default [Solved]SS 6.4 Steam Version - Won't Start SS

I had the hard CD copy and had to reinstall after I accidentally overwrote some Kingdoms files when attempting to try Call of Warhammer. However, it never worked out because CD 1 is too scratched up. So, I tried to fix it a bit with cleaning and buffing, but it didn't help (data1.pack cannot be read: cyclic redundancy error). In the end, I decided to purchase a steam version on my steam account just so I can play.

Turns out I can't even play SS because after proper installation (3 times), it gives me an error when trying to launch. The error message is blank and I know SS isn't starting because I don't see a Templar, but see the default Medieval II image before it gives me the error.

    I tried 2/3 of these:

Edit: I have already disabled UAC when it was giving me trouble altering program files.

Edit2: I purchased Medieval II: Gold on Steam.

    Fixed it with this:

    1. Install the mod as instructed.
    2. Open Steam/Steamapps/Common/Medieval II Total War/mods. There you will find all your installed Kingdoms campaigns as well as the Stainless Steel modfolder.
    3. Edit the name of one of the Kingdoms folders (americas, brittannia, crusades, teutonic), preferably your least favorite campaign. The new name doesn't have to be anything specific.
    4. Change the name of the Stainless Steel folder to the former name of the Kingdoms folder you just edited. For example, if you edited the americas folder, the Stainless Steel folder should be named americas.
    5. Select the appropriate campaign from the steam menu. If you renamed the Third_Age folder to americas, select the americas campaign. If you named it crusades, select the crusades campaign, and so on.
    6. Steam will now launch the mod.

    Enjoy Stainless Steel !

You should edit that post to say that this solution works with SS6.3 and SS6.4 (SS6.3 folder)

Now I have to fix Invalid CD Key on Steam version. Wow... I hate Steam.
