Default i disabled mongols and timurids invasions (am I a wuss?)

OK, I love playing as the turks and egyptians. I love their units and I'm also a muslim, but I am european. Anyyways, everytime I play as one of the two, once the mongols come I have absolutely no choice but to send all my armies to the east to defend, I spend all my money on that aswell, not to mention Crusades on top of all the damn mongols coming at me!
So I went into the M2TW files and disabled their invasions to like turn 9999 or something lol.
I just think it's a little unfair, and as soon as it happens I pretty much can't expand or build my economy anymore man, it just takes a lot of fun away from the game.

Am I a coward for doing this?

Whatever suits your fancy, really. If you have more fun playing the game without them, that's awsome, nobody will judge you for that..

Personally I like the idea of having these extra challenges throughout the game, otherwise it would be regular smooth sailing after turn 50 or so.. I would get bored I'm afraid.

Tough in my opinion it's great fun to fight them, It's always a shock for new players xD I was already expecting them first time I played because of the first Medieval. But I can't imagine the sock a lot of newbies experienced when their empires crumbled beneath their unstoppable hordes. And the fun thing is x) after the Mongols were controled and they could breath in relief... the timmy elies are comming.

    Yes, you´re a wuss.
But no one can blame you, the Hordes are a nuisance.
However, all you really need as the Turks (I haven´t played Egypt yet) is to:
Take control of Anatolia and northern Outremer,
Block the Bosphorus with fleets (So no armies can march across the strait) and
Fortify the eastern provinces with Ballista towers and high-level Town watches so that you´re ready to recruit large and powerful armies right away to defend them.
If you play defensively, you can continue expanding into Greece with your campaign armies, while tiring the Hordes until they break.

i think once you get a little better at the game, you won't have any problem fighting them off. Rushing all your armies to fight them and protect your settlements, you may find it easier to let them take a few of your settlements - so they get spread out and then deal with them. Sending wave after wave to crash into the full mongol horde in order to save Baghdad - you'll basically lose every time and just end up spending all your money. Let them go as far as about edessa, and then strike them once they've spread out a little bit.

Rather than tinkering about with the game files and disabling stuff, why not reach for the Holy Console and auto win battles against all those pesky stacks? I sometimes do it when I'm slurping the ale and can't keep track of whats what and whos who and where everyones going

I agree they are a pain, especially when they start settling down. I can understand that they are a though opponent and come in hordes, but that they spread all the way to turkey and beyond is nowhere near historical.

When playing as egypt, i killed off the first two stacks that appeared near baghdad, causing them to be "destroyed", a few turns later they popped up in russia, so not my problme anymore

It's a game, and a sandbox one for that matter. You are the one who writes history once you end the first turn. Besides, if one were to play historically, the bame would be boring for most factions, as they would not conquer anymore territories than the ones they start with.

Spot On +rep. The game would be exceedingly boring for a faction like Scotland.

If the Mongols and Timmies fancy a trundle around the map, it would be rude to stop their sightseeing tours, and if they become too adventurous and nosey, it's easy to chastise them with a swift blast of the Holy Console

after you destroy them as a faction, next time they pop up, you'll still be at war?

But some factions do make a lot of progress. Some just lost most of it to time, England and France for example.

Well yeah i agree that it's a sandbox game and that you make your own history, but it's no fun when 1 faction is overpowered or overrepresented in the game (i don't deny the mongols great military skills, but they just never settled whole the way into turkey). Just like it wouldn't be fun when one of the western faction was overpowered (like france or so give a lot more territories)

But you do have notion that they WOULD easily have conquered Europe if not for the untimely death of their leaders and subsequent "confusion" in the empire right?

They steamrolled everything from their point of origin in a relatively short time, Europe would not be able to stop them, Eastern Europe was already broken by the time they went back.

True statement. If Genghis Khan was an immortal, this whole world would be ruled by Mongols still to this day

oh by the way, after all I've read here, I feel like a girl and I turned the invasions back on...I'm actually kind of looking forward to it
