Default 9 years for mounted sergeants?

I've just started playing an SS early campaign with HRE for the first time (+ Meneth's compilation, without 2TPY) and I find that it takes 8 turns for this rather basic unit's pool to be refilled from a stable.
IMO this doesn't really add to the realism of the game and makes building armies a long and tedious job.

Is there a good reason it takes so long? If not, where can I change this?

    Thx in advance!

This is RR which is more historical than Vanilla.Recruiting a professional army WASNT easy and it does add to the immersion and realism.

Use the Disable RR in the setup.

Ah too bad I like RR too much to disable it.
It just seems that for such an average unit 9 years is a looooong time.
There is no way I can change this myself?

It is historical yes, but to a extreme degree perhaps? What people forget to remeber about total war in making it historicaly accurate is that ITS A GAME! Its meant to be fun and interesting to play. Make it too historically accurate and it'll be like real medieval war life as a king- tedious, time consuming and stressful.

So what you can still play it without those realism / gameplay enhancement / difficulty increasing addons...

...and that is why RR is choicable... If you want a more "fun" game, then disable it... if you want a more historically accurate game, enable it... for me, I find the historically accurate game more "fun" due to more tactical decisions...

Stainless Steel is a mod that has evolved for a more historically accurate depiction of the medieval times... If you don't like it, then play Vanilla which is a game for "fun"...

As for the OP, the thought is that you have to use a lot of low-quality troops and the elites must train in various locations and then transport them to the main army... if you have three castles that can train mounted sergeants then you have three cavalry every nine turns (or one every three turns)...

    Have fun!

Good thing I'm playing with HRE then huh ^^. But it does get really annoying if you have a lot of troops to retrain though.
Don't get me wrong I really do think SS and RR make it much MUCH more fun!!
Guess I'll have to live with it.

Depends... I see it as a challenge to sometimes go to battle with unfitted troops... maybe buy some mercenaries of lower quality to tip the scale for that decisive battle... or a lot LOT of cannonfodd... eeeer, peasants I mean...

You will get used to it... trust me....

EDIT: Gothic Knights is around 8-10 turns for the first tier they're around, if I am not mistaken...

9 turns? wow. If you have to wait 9 turns for mounted sergeants, I imagine how long you have to wait for Gothic Knights.
Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

I don't have them yet but I fear the worst

Well I've been reading through the RR thread and I'm starting to see the big picture.
I have the lame habbit of using elites only, while this is fun, it's far from realistic.

But guys, if I were to tweak things a little, can anyone point me to the right direction?

not true... the EDU claiming 9000 turns is for some thing or another that I have yet to understand... search again and you might find them at another building...

The over 9000 was a joke.
Chimera asked how he would mod it, I answered(unclearly It seems, or your sarcasm detector is broken)

as a former media student I must say that sarcasm almost always goes *WOOOOSH* over the head if it is in writing... so the best would be to use smileys if you must use it...

for the "joke", I don't know if the 9000 turns is still in the EDB but in 6.3 it was something like that written, that is why I took you on your word...

You can keep RR and change the Recruiting time yourself with some changes to a file called export_descr_building in your mod folder to answer your question !! Try the search fuction and I'm sure you will find something that will explain how to do it. Just remember to always back up your work !!
