Here are some pictures that I took at le Musée de l'Armée in Paris. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe these are examples of Mamluk armor, of what era I do not know.

they could be Ottoman or Mamluk, this form of armor dates from the 15th century and up until the 18th

Here are some more that I took. I apologize for the glare, the glass and the sunlight made taking pictures really difficult.

    even Celtic breastplates where included
btw, osprey books where available at the souvenirs shop too
It was definitely a highlight of my trip. I could have spent the whole day there.
I did pick up a book (though not Osprey) with images of arms and armor of their collection; I think I will post any that are relevant to BC. I have a lot more pictures that I took there, though most of them are of ornate armor and swords, landsknecht armor, and zweihanders

I'll create an album on my profile in the next week or so, since most are not BC related. And thanks for the +rep

because it was a weird era.... and its main focus was really... building and advancement in Europe....

beside, most want to fight using very strange ancient techniques, or chivalrous warfare... or use atomic bomb... so the musket is kinda forgotten bout

Nah, I can´t agree in this point. There are some really interesting mods on the way, like Gigantus´s "1648: Der dreissigjährige Krieg" or nessj999´s "Colonialism Total War"

Yeah I agree, its just kind of sad because alot of Islamic armies in that same period (Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal) were so effective and combined modern musket/matchlock infantry so well with cavalry.

well its just my opinion after all... because look... I am not really interested in watching two lines who stand face to face and shoot each other from a close range then engage physically while the other approach and recklessly kill the rest....

I think a mod set in the Renaissance would be interesting, definite change in tactics: more focus on pike defense and breakers and a larger role for light cavalry
    Anyway, back on topic

What is with the Trident in the turban? Never seen that before... Renaissance is quite an interesting era actually. Gunpowder rose to prominence quite slowly actually... going from 10% to 20% then 50% of armies while cavalry and even pikemen retained roles quite late.

    ?

I think you are forgetting about the last 4 Total war titles since M2TW. And there are plenty of non-European factions in all of them, starting with Empire Total War.

[There are some winged helms in this thread -- how about some winged armor!! (Polish hussar/knights from 17th century)]
