    Default Negative tribute from vassals?

I just managed to finally make the Teutonic Knights my vassals (I'm playing as HRE, so this seems perfectly fitting too).

But when I look at my finance scroll, it shows "Income from Diplomacy/tributes: -2500, Expenditure: 50" (I'm paying 50 florins/turn for the Fatimids).

So why is the income negative? If it's an expenditure, shouldn't it be in the expenditure column, rather than by a negative value in the income column?

Or is it because I actually pay to have a vassal?

Edit: it only showed the -2500 the first turn after I made them vassals..

The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

Did you give them 2500 bucks to convince them to be your vassals?
