From my limited knowledge i think that Lithuania was a collection of serfdoms ( i believe they were called) that were united under the king by a common language (mostly anyway) pagan beliefs (mostly again, but not entirely) and other such "national" beliefs.
they were not united by that time in SS there were lots of tribes which biggest were Lithuanians , Sudovians,Curonians
They did however unite in late campaign (as in the game) towards the end of the 12th century under the Great Mindaugas
purposely to fight the new order established there to destroy paganism, the TO.
yeh yeh but late campaign starts at 1200 and mindaugas united lithuania at 1253
Game starts in 1220 actually and Mindaugas was crowned in 1253, the actual consolidation started before the 1200.
Here's something to prove that "Lithuania" existed under Mindaugas from before 1253
You can read some yourself.Mindaugas (ca. 1200 – 12 September 1263) was the first known Grand Duke of Lithuania and the only King of Lithuania. Little is known of his origins, early life, or rise to power; he is mentioned in a 1219 treaty as an elder duke, and in 1236 as the leader of all the Lithuanians.
I can't actually vouch that this is true, but it`s what it says on wikipedia![]()
Lithuanian historicals have agreed that the start of Lithuania as a country is in 1236. Source: my history teacher![]()
ok thanx but still in early era hes not a born so lithuania is a tribe
Lithuania only starts with 1 region in the early campaign. That's as small as it can get
Early Lithuanian leaders are quite conjectural. Not many historical records sadly. But yea, Mindaugas wasn't suppose to be alive in early campaign... altho that's not the only character misplacement in the game

but the city is not historical either.... Vilnius was built in 14th century begining i think kaunas or Kernave should be the capital in the early era
Vilnius stood long before Gediminas chose it as a capital.
Vilnius is older than the 14th century. That's just when the legend says it was founded. There had been settlement on the site for 1000 years before that.
Vilnius is ok - i always asked myself why the mighty city of Palanga is in the game.![]()

I think i already said that in some RR/RC thread - Kleipeda/Memel is just 25 km (~16 miles) to the west by car. In the german translation i use "Twangste" for the early era. Itīs an old-prussian castle which was mentioned by Tacitus and was located there. Unfortunatly i donīt find any english text about that - only german ones. (Just another suggestion)![]()

There is a good map of Lithunanian state :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Li..._centuries.png
After initial expension, majority of population was slavic. Mostly Belarussians and northen Ukranians.
Grand Duchy of Lithuania used belarussian language for official documents till 17th-18th century.
but Vilnius was not a capital nor was it important city before the legend
