I had the same problem. I fixed it by turning off anti aliasing temporarily to take the shot. Worked fine then.
once again im at the mercy of your counsel were do i find that, as i have anti aliasing turn off in my nvidia settings, and
by temporarily does it have an effect on graphics in general
Look to the stars
Look in the video section in options in RTW. i would turn it back on in your graphics card.

Put antialiasing off. End of your problem!

I just answered this question again for another lost soul but added more detail to clear up the confusion on where you change the settings. It hadn't occured to me that people would look at their card settings instead of the game menu. It's a perfectly understandable mistake mind you I've just gotten so familiar with the game I forgot to add that crucial detail.
Not again I say!
P.S. I often wonder if it's a maturity issue instead of just plain rudeness. I say that because most who play this game are way younger than me and I wasn't as polite or thoughtful when I was a teenager. Though my momma did teach me some manners.
you should take a look at some of the rows the history buffs are having, cant remember where it was but there was a massive fight over carthaginians having long spears or not,
if i wanted total realism i'd put a sauspan on my head and chase the misses down edgeware rd shouting no prisoners
its a game
