Problem With the game

I have recently beat RTW, and upon discovering RTR, I have been trying to play it. However, after installing and such, this error message pops-up. This Application has failed to start because MSS32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I would love to play, and i am saddened that a technical error will not permit me to taste the fruit of the labours of the skilled team of RTR.

I would also like to thank the RTR team for all their work, though I havent even tried the game yet

What version of RTW are you playing and what is it patched to? Also, which RTR mod are you trying to install? The more details the better.

I'm quite sorry I forgot those details. I have Platinum mod:switch, (the latest version one). I have Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion 1.6.

I'm going to log off for the night but will reply at some time in the morning. I'm trying to play RTR Platinum mod:switch, I have Rome total war gold edition, bought it from amazon.com. Sorry, didn't get a chance to look at this problem earlier. Woke up late for work so I had a fairly hectic morning.

A couple of things you may want to look at:

1) Is your RTW installed under The Creative Assembly or Activision?
2) When installing RTR did you remember to make sure it installed to the right location (ie Creative Assembly or Activision)?
3) Is your shortcut pointing to the right location?

If it's not one of those then the only thing I can think of is that you may have a bad install and need to start over.

If you have WINDOWS 7 - RTW must be installed on C:\ ...

RTW vanilla works fine, and it is on driver C. I will try the link, if it works, where do I put MSS32.DLL?

Edit: I can't seem to make sense of MSS32.DLL. And Now RTW vanilla is missing an icon, though it works fine.

Here are the instructions for the .dll :
Use an Unzip-application to select the dll-file and extract it to your system directory. By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7). You may also put it in the directory of the program, that is asking for the file.
If putting it in the system directory isn't enough, you may need to use regsvr32 by the following way(this way is not necesarry unless you still get the error):
Press Start and select Run
Type CMD and press Enter
Type regsvr32 "filename".dll and press Enter

And for the icon, just choose the icon path again and there should be no problems.

I did it, and the error message doesn't appear anymore, but when I click on it(RTR), it starts opening, then closes O.o.

Edit: It appears to try to open RTW Vanilla :/
