    Default Too much foreign troops!

Playing as Lithuania and my new barracks will give me Tatar lancers and some kind of Steppe Pechengs - seriously? This is also evident with Novgorod, Poland and Kievan Rus...really ruins the fun since I want my armies to be ethnic with only mercs being foreign. How come whenever I start game I get half units stationed in cities to be of some Asian or Turkic descent?

Because there was a heavy mix of many different ethnicity in the area at that time. Also many of those eastern men served in the armies of western rulers when their clan/families lost wars or etc so its not very appropriate to have them only as mercenaries. Unless they changed it alot those type of units are still minority when looking at whole roster. Also some of those areas have locals which the further east you go all the locals become eastern. Western descent didn't really expand farther east or south east and colonize until much later than the time period in game.

Historically Tartars were used in Lithuanian armies. And Pechenegs and other steppe peoples were used in the armies of medieval Rus.

No doubt there were segments of Eastern Turkic and Asian troops in Lithuanian as well as Russian armies but this was not to the extent presented in this mod, especially since the two frontiers (Novgorod and Cuman Khanates) did not officially merge prior to the Siege of Kazan in 1552. Plus I just think it's foolish for my top-of-the-line barracks, located in my glorious capital, be centered on solely producing Tatar units.

If I had turned off the Real Recruitment mod during installation phase would this fix this problem for me? I doubt it but who knows...

Well I wouldn't put too much stock in that. There is every chance that those horse archers were Russian. Take note of #4

Oh, man! You should consider learning more history!

Archers on the right flank of Nevskii's armies were a blend of Izhorians, Pskovians, Novogorod garrison and contractors, which were serviced by Batu Khan. You seem to like to Ctrl + B certain aspects of history without reading further on. Regardless one flank cannot be attributed to solely winning an entire massacre, despite what one picture on image-shack says.

I don't think Lithuanians should be represented in the game as steppe warriors, seeing that Lithuania is in fact not a steppe country, but rather a country of hills, lakes and woodland.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

They're not. But historically they made use of Tartar mercenaries in their armies.

So perhaps the steppe horse should not be recruited at Lithuanian castles, but rather hired as mercenaries in that region?

Yeah, 'disable RR' when you run setup. It only works in 6.4. If you're still playing 6.3, click the link in my sig.
