no, because of the format of the text files, you have to delete that file entirely or you would be playing napoleon with WWI text. its better to uninstall, you can alway either re-download the mod and install it again, or keep the downloaded file somewhere on your computer. Thats what I do.
but is it possible make a backup of Napoleon and use that one for the vanilla or the Great war mod so I can play both
Well, because of steam, I fear thats not possible, as least I don't think its possible, try asking in the general discussion/technical help.
No its not possible I'm afraid.. I will however in future we making something for TGW that will make this problem void.

Simply move your GreatWar.pack and GreatWarText.pack into a seperate folder (can be within the data folder) and you should be fineI don't know if issues will arise out of your user.script, I shouldn't think so, but if they do I would suggest modmanager for the convenience
