Medieval II will not launch.

EDIT: irishron told me how to fix it and by-god it worked!

I know this is really bad that I am posting here for one of the first times only to ask for technical support, but I really need help. When I attempt to launch Medieval II Total War, it will not run the original, unedited version of the game. It will launch the mods that came with the expansion, but will not run the original game. It was working just fine the other day when I had finished the Grand Campaign, but when i tried to get on today and last night, it was not working at all. The only that happened was I tried to download the Third Age and it failed several times, but I reinstalled both Medieval II and Medieval II: Kingdoms. In case you cannot tell, I am using Windows 7 and I have the game through Steam.

-Once I click Medieval II: Total War it crashes and it says that it Windows has a problem or something. I can play the Americas campaign, Britannia campaign, the Crusades campaign, and the Teutonic campaign, but not the vanilla game.

I hate the launcher but with Steam, you're stuck.

See if there is a Medieval II Total War folder in %appdata% and if ther is one delete it, and verify your game cache.

Follow the link that irishron provided. It will show you how to post a DxDiag log. Copy and paste the entire log here as it will have info that we can use to tell not only your computer model but if there are other possible driver conflicts as well. Good luck!

At this point the only thing I can offer is to try loading the legacy .NET files. M2TW is nearly ten years old and time hasn't been kind to it. It was not written to work well with more modern systems. Even if E:TW and N:TW work well you must realize that M2 is an old beast that doesn't play well with modern hardware or software. Good luck!

Post the dxdiag. I found a site with a full breakdown and too many variables to be guessing.

i did that .NET clean up then i clicked the game launcher then it said

"The APPLICATION failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the APPLICATION."

Post your dxdiag. The info in your PM did no good as your computer is too old to get the correct info.

Without you posting this dxdiag, we cannot help you.

The APPLICATION failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the APPLICATION.

Above this error message(still in the error window), does it mention a Language Runtime error, or something like this:

Svcs.exe common language runtime debugging services.
