My bet is that the original diagnosis was incorrect, despite what those doctors decided. Also, does it have to be called a miracle and be attributed to a pope just because of coincidence? I really don't see how that's conclusive. I would reckon that sainthood is just a status that a lot of very influential people want the former pope to achieve, nothing more.

The blatant intellectual dishonesty of the Vatican is astounding. The first mistake they make everytime they want to canonize somebody is to actually go looking for a miracle to justify beatification. Miracles, by definition, should speak for themselves. The second mistake they make is to accept such a miracle on the basis that someone prayed to the potential Saint. What the hell does that mean? That JP II was a miracle worker? That he is somebody worth praying to as a deity? I don't know how the hell they are able to justify such

with scripture. Its all bunk anyway, but the Catholic church is especially disgraceful.

The Vatican actually has a team of doctors, both Catholic and non-catholic, that investigates miracles. Out of the hundreds and thousands of miracle reports they recieve, only ones that are medically inexplainable are described as miracles. It is not a matter of "Oh wow they prayed and are now cured, it is a miracle. Cannonized you are."

True. It's a matter of "Oh wow we can't figure it out, so let's call it a miracle". I disagree with this, however.
