For those thinking of SSD there is a cheaper way of doing things if you play a lot of games and need a lot of space on your fastest drive.
I have an ASUS p6t6 MB with built in SAS and double Seagate 15kRPM SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) drives in Raid 0. Have been running this setup for about 6 months now.
In benchmarks I get sequential read and write of 200-250 while having 600 GB for only $500, bought these two drives on sale for $250 but I see them around often at around $300 each. An equivalent SSD is $1500+.
Playing BFBC2, for example, levels load instantaneously there is no wait time at all, I am always the first one to load in the game, and I have around 30 seconds wait time for first spawn to give you an idea on how fast it is. My previous drive I would have around 5 seconds for first spawn. All games load instantly as well.
If you are looking into building a new high end computer and you are thinking of going SSD think about getting this instead. This board is also an EXCELLENT overclocking board and its of extremely high quality. Have had an I7 920 OCd stable at 4.4 ghz on this. It is now at 4.1 without a voltage increase, something I could not do in my previous board for whatever reason.
I would highly recommend this setup unless you want to spend the big money on one of those PCI-E 1.4 gb/s SSDs. I have all the space I need for games or anything else at $600 GB plus all the speed of SSD.
This is the drive I am using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-538-_-Product
Currently $250 on newegg. I was running one by itsself for a while and it was exceptionally fast but not nearly as fast as it is in raid 0.
