Cheaters and Liars on Multi

Im sure you've all enountered these type of people on multi. Anyone got a good one to tell.

I'll start with my recent battle with a troll, jamescccarroll

Host said all infantry only, so infantry only. He chosses Austria as im choosing, then quickly chooses Ottoman Empire. Map starts, im fighting all melee units only. Though true to his word, infantry only, a cheap shot. I choose a rematch, i did the same with the Ottoman empire melee units, he chooses all Calvary...

Feel free the add a black list of your encounters.

Ya, i saw that but, just frustrated with constant so called "rules" in Napoleon Total War. Which rules are rules and not just "there" for a quick rated win.

oh the irony. basically, fasd, you complained about MP players not following rules, but you aren't following the forum rules by naming and shaming.

He actually followed the rules, just was crafty of him; still you shoulda been able to beat the ottomans, fire, retreat ect

M8 u need to learn that there are big noobs out there. You just need to learn to pwn and ignore them

hehe its quite difficult to ignore them since there are so many but anyway fasd if u feel like posting the names of the cheaters there are quite a few steamgroups with a "wall of shame" there ppl can post the names of cheaters in specific anouncements

I feel like this community is way to hard on "noobs". Even if they are bad at the game or loud-mouthed wannabe's, either ignore them or offer helpful advice to the ones who are willing to take it. I've realized throughout playing the Total War games since Shogun, that no matter how much I love this game, I always have had a hard time understanding this community as a whole. To be quite honest, I've seen time and time again well experienced players ragging on the new/novice players, and I've always had trouble coming to terms with that. My policy has always been either help those who want it, or leave those along who don't. There is really no point in making conflict with the "noobs" or cheaters and liars on the game, no matter how much they may piss you off, since it just leads to conflict. And keep in mind that people change, so making a bad name for them, or the people they associate with may come back to bite you someday, since who knows they could turn out to be a really good player, who along with their skill is respectable and friendly. So really guys, making Steam groups and blacklisting certain people is just not cool (even if they are a complete and total arse). If you want to hold a grudge, hold it. But don't make communities based around not playing certain people, they bought the game just like us, and if they are going to be asses while playing it, YOU can avoid them. But don't go spreading their name in a bad way, because then (atleast in my opinion) it makes you just as much, (or maybe even more) of an arse than them.

thats so true. But it is hard to ignore some of them especially if they call you cheaters just cause you outplayed them

So, Preatorians100 would have been inscribed in the black list by the noob. Preatorians100 is a [...]. Case closed.

Naming and shaming is a witch-hunt. It didnt worked, it doesnt work and it will not work. We were all on a black list sooner or later, just for having fun/ playing roleplay/ having a fantastic day/ having a bad day/ enjoying the victory/ "set dozens of other moods in here". Judgements are better made by judges and even they didnt do it 100% right...

An interesting stance. However there is a point where if you are online you should be not going there to mess around and ignore common sense guidelines about how game etiquette and how to act respectfully. Those who are noobs are different from those who choose to disrespect the rules of the society they have chosen to interact with or join. Those who cheat, lie, and are in other manners disrespectful and rude frankly should realize what their actions will do to them. If they are cheating and lying, then they are creating conflict by their own actions, and therefore getting worked up about it is a natural response that does not need to be checked or stopped just for their wishes. Noobs if they are willing to learn and take advice can be taken under the wing, and be taught how to behave. If they choose to go rogue and ignore better counsel and judgement, then they forfeit their chance to learn the easy way and deserve to be manhandled. Making communities based on hatred are silly, and that is not what was being mentioned here. It was an attempt to spread information on those who choose to not tell the truth through channels that will get information passed to a certain group of people. It is not allowed here, they were simply suggesting an alternative to where the poster could practice his trade. Also having a tougher skin so you can take a joke would be good for everyone. But apparently some people fly at a single utterance.

I would actually love to "name and shame" all the cheaters and hackers I've come across while playing Napoleon Total War Online fasd, but even if it was allowed by the TWC rules, I doubt seriously whether their server's hard drives could handle the massive input of information without either crashing or blowing up!

I actually am in favor of making a clan called "the black list" or something of the like. Could be headed by admins of all the major clans, people would have to request to add some on, the claim would be looked into (i.e view replay or ask other participants) then the punishment would be they would be added to "the black list" for a certain period of time, depending on their infraction (I.E. Hacking = indefinitely on list, Breaking rules = on list for 1 month or something of the like). I think this could actually be a better way to regulate cheating/hacking/rule breaking/ even rude behavior? I think a TW judicial system could be kind of useful, with the admins of the major clans as judges.

As I'm sure Major Hemorrhoid has pointed out. That list would quickly have thousands of names. Far too many for people to look over and be aware of the accused.
