End of Battle CTDs
Hey guys... its me again
.
Iv been having consistent CTD issues after battles. Its gotten to the point where I have frustratingly abandoned 2 save games after CTDing after long, drawn-out heroic victories. In order to cool myself down (I was pretty pissed... lol), I decided to take a short break and play another mod instead. However, no mod compares to this one's awesomeness, so I have decided to come back and try to fix these CTD issues once and for all so that I can play the game.
First, I want to state that this crash occurs with any faction that I play with. It happens pretty randomly (hence part of the frustration... I never know when im going to crash so I never know when to save beforehand). The only consistentcy that I have found is that the crash does not occur when I am playing the game for short periods at a time. It only occurs when I have had the game running for an extended period of time (which happens fairly frequently since I often have to leave my computer mid-battle to go do something else). What happens is that, after I finish a battle, the loading bar will appear to take me back to the campaign map. It will load all the way and then, without getting back to the campaign map, my game will crash. Like I said, it happens pretty randomly, so I don't know how easily it'll be to duplicate and try to get more details on.
I noticed the sticky about CTDs, but the link it sent me to had fixes for version 1.0 CTDs and im running version 1.2.
As a side note, my brother was unwilling to send me his Epeiros savegame for that bug of his that I reported about a week ago (the money bug). He's pretty lazy when he doesn't care about it. Sorry

Re: End of Battle CTDs
Waiting at the end of a battle before returning to campaign map for 15-20 seconds decreases the chance of after-battle-CTD's enormous.

Re: End of Battle CTDs
So waiting at the post battle screen for 15-20 sec? Will this pretty much insure me that it will not crash or does it just make crashes a rarer?

Re: End of Battle CTDs
It makes it rarer. Sadly, the RTW engine itself has some bugs in version 1.5 (if you can, try to switch to Alexander, this is far more stable), and as EB maxes out this engine, those bugs are seen more often than in vanilla.
Waiting reduces the crashes for me at 80-90%, so it is worth it.

In my experience a little, Alex is way more better in this aspect. Waiting after the battle results helps in all three engines, however on my build I have CTD's in Alex only on very, very random occasions.

Re: End of Battle CTDs
Waiting about 1 min works stat screen after a battle and i return to campign map. But in the Al turn one stack attack me we fight and i go back to campign map (still Al turn) they Al sends another stack and while going for a second battle in row on loading screen i crash. Any tips for preventing that? lt seems that fighting several battles in a row makes the game to ctd? This is with Lusotania to mention if that can be of any help.

Re: End of Battle CTDs
That situation you described increases the RTW memory-leak problem. If you have the 1.2 sprite fix properly applied my advise would be to save before the second battle inside the AI turn. As long as you activate the script again in your next turn after loading the file, it should help you.

Re: End of Battle CTDs
Before adding the fixes check the version in the main menu. 1.1 is NOT savegame-compatible to 1.2; so if it says 1.1 don't install the fixes, finish your ongoing campaigns and then apply the fixes and start new campaigns.
