    Default area of recruitment question

the area of Recruitment system is awesome, but defiantly flawed. for example: Anyone who owns Prussia gets both Prussian Auxiliaries and Prussian axeman. this I like, because in your country you recruit your own local troops, but elsewhere, you can get their local troops.
what I don't understand is why this doesn't apply to everywhere. In my Turkish campaign, I look directly south to Armenia, where there are "Armenian rebels", with Armenian heavy cav and Armenian infantry, which both look pretty tempting to the early Turkish lack of armor. I was expecting that my castle in Armenia would be able to build Armenian heavy cav instead of faris/sapahis, (because that is how the local nobility fight) but no, none of these units are recruit-able.

it would be really nice to have those options especially as the Turks to make up for their lack of any real infantry and heavy cav, but also balanced because it would only come from 1 region.

that was just one example, but there's so many local troops (swiss troops, jinetes, longbows) that i would like to recruit as an occupying force, and not have to pay merc prices. this also adds whole new dimension of having to think about who to conquer, as you would want units that would complement the rest your roster.

Any thoughts? has this been sub-modded?

What would be the point of mercenaries then?

Also, the mercenaries are always better than the Local-type units that you can recruit in the settlement, as they represent the trained, equipped and war-ready forces of the local population, not just some wannabes who happen to have a weapon at home.

i thought that the point of mercenaries was instant, overpriced troops but i guess you have a point there.
I just don't understand why guys like viking raiders and Prussian auxiliaries are considered local troops and Armenians & some others are all mercs, especially considering that Armenia has like 4 really good unique units. are they just mercs because they are good?
they just cost way too much to keep a lot standing

Idk if you were saying to read the whole guide but I did. interesting stuff, clearly a lot of thought went into it.
however I will quote that guide, "If the dividing line between Early Pros and Mercenaries seems somewhat blurred, that's because it is." and I think that's exactly what I'm saying.

I didn't realize how abundant all those Armenian units i wanted actually are, and that guide really explained how mercenaries fit in historically and it made more sense.

I'm still not sure why I, the conquerer, can't permit men to still be recruited, armed and trained in the local style.

Of course you can - they're the Local-type units. The Feudal ones aren't around anymore because you replaced the nobility with yours, and the Late Professional ones were the well-trained regular troops that were loyal to the former king. You bring in your culture and you train Late Professionals that fit your faction.

It's also to keep the factions different. If everyone could recruit all units, all factions would be the same.
