Is this extremely hard? Is there anyway that the technologies are balanced for the native americans?

Get your sliders ready for Westernization before the white man starts knocking on your door.
Ha ya thank you. I contemplated this but just went with another ego-boosting campaign as the French.
I've tried it once and it is pretty difficult. Until you come into contact with European nations, you more or less have to restrict yourself to quite small territory, because your research speed is very low - you won't get new government technology levels anytime soon, so overexpanding your empire will quickly lead to unrest and instability. To add to it, you cannot fortify your territory for quite some time, meaning that you automatically lose any province that an enemy unit happens to march through without opposition.
The next problematic phase is the colonial era, when you have to go up against the Europeans - they are far superior in technology, numbers, ability and ressources than you are, so surviving the colonial onslaught will likely be the major challenge through this game. If you can, try not to let them get any more than 1 colony, because direct contact to the Europeans is what you need for getting a better tech class, if I'm not mistaken. From there on, it's a difficult balance between advancing your tech class and keeping the Europeans at bay. If you can do that, you can also pretty much dominate the game a bit later, because America is yours to conquer.
Oh... did I mention that you will be more or less broke for a large part of the game?![]()
It's not impossible however.

Honestly, I'd even go so far as to say that nothing is impossible in Paradox games - it just takes skill, knowledge and, at times, an amount of luck that is not to be underestimated. If one has all of these, anything goes.![]()
Going off topic a bit in my own thread here but as I'm playing France I'm trying to annex a few countries within my borders. I have all the prerequisites for annexing but even with a relationship of 200 for 10 years they sometimes don't want to do it.
Maintain the relations at +200 and continue to demand annexation. They will fold eventually, although it might take 5-10 tries. Also, keep in mind that you will receive missions to annex the French puppets giving you centralization, so you might want to wait with annexations until you receive such missions.
Send warnings to all of your neighbours you might want to fight. Avoid guarantees, since you will lose alot of prestige if you abstain from helping the power you guarantee. By using warnings, you don't lose anything, except that your relations will suffer slightly with the powers you warn.

Yeah that it's pretty much a gamble with peaceful annexation. All you can do is demand and hope they accept.
What's a good way to obtain a Casus Belli.
Send a spy to their capital and click 'Fabricate Claims'. There are factors that influence the likelihood of success, but it's usually possible.
