    Default Hypothetical Question?

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work and it looks like that's what CA had in mind.

Could a series of provincial campaigns be created for one modded map by just adding the strat, regions, and perhaps the merc files to a series of campaign folders and moving the main map mod to the base or Imperial folder?

What I'm thinking about is creating individual campaign senarios like a unified rome with senate, unified rome without senate, handicapped starting conditions for the truly masochistic. Maybe a highly advanced late stage version with some or all of the roman factions already at war. So when you pulled up the provincial campaign screen you would see a # of different versions for your enjoyment.

If it's feasible to put the modded map in the base or imperial folder than it would just be a bunch of txt files and I suppose a map.rwm file. After I got all the map info, IE x & y coordinates I could kick out a bunch of different senarios for a single base mod in a very short amount of time. I could continue to release, or others could add their own, for this mod over time.

I could do this for IceTorque's WarMap, BBWarMap and Webbird's Tir lon dubh map.

I think the best way to do this would be to keep each version seperate, and in it's own provincial campaign folder.
This would give the same effect of being able to choose from a list of slightly different mods in the provincial campaign select screen.
I don't think it's possible to share map files with different descr_strat, merc etc txt files. As these need to be in the same folder for each campaign.
I hope that was what you were asking.

How does the base folder work then? The main reason I was thinking about doing it this way is it would save people from having to download and store all the extra files they would need. Thats not an issue for me, 320GB and all I really store on this comp is RTW stuff. Also it would work well with the concept of continual add ons that I or others could write for the base campaign map. Do you see the concept I'm trying to achieve.

On a side note I'll upload my Unified Rome, no Senate or Thrace strat file for your maps if anybody is interested. I just have to cut out the unique units from the file and redo the regions file so it doesn't have the hidden resources or farm level cuts. In the future I can release more variants if their is interest.

If complete campaign folders with map info are necessary I could go that route too. What would be the minimum # and name of files needed to do this, and what optional files might I consider. I can make a pretty good guess if I need be. I have multiple versions of your's and many other's maps/mods to compare it too. I'd still like to get around to playing EB too but I'm so wrapped up in my own projects. They're use of scripting is the really unique thing about that mod.

The Imperial campaign looks in the base folder and the imperial campaign folder for it's necessary files.
That is why both these folders are combined for a provincial campaign.
Another way you could do it would be set up each variants unique txt. files,
in optional folders to be installed to the main mod folder as needed.

What units are you going to delete ? Why not seek permission to include these in your mod ?

I have some references to new mercs and one new, Gallic, unit in the strat.txt . If I had permission I would release my complete mod. This more along the lines of a first foray into the snake pit. If I released the whole mod I would have to read rude posts about what a moron I was for thinking it was a good idea. I don't know if I would take it as well as you. :sign_lame

At present I would need permission from at least 2 skinners and 2 unit/info cards makers.
Webbird is one of them which is why it might be easier if I release it on his version. I could also strip most of the skins out. I used a lot of rebel skins at first for my new ZOR/Merc units. Since then I've been adding better skins and refining the recruitment tree's. Currently I have to see how the economics play in the later stage of the game. I like a tight money supply and low growth with an accelerated start so it doesn't drag in the early stages.

I had M/M for 1.2 dialed in perfect but I was never able to get permission from Warspite for his de-greened merc skins. He never responded to any PM's and no one I know has heard from him. Webbird might know because he released some of his skins in his new Xmas packages. I forgot I have 3 of NGR's mercs incorporated into my mod also. Since these were from M/M it wouldn't have been a problem then, but now?

I'll stick with the idea of a few spin offs for now, untill I get everything dialed in. I have about half of you map coordinates written down along with all the provinces and regions organized by zone. That was part of doing the ZOR and turned into the master location list.

I'm still having trouble with a name for a different campaign. Unified Rome without Senate and Thrace campaign for BBWarMap 1.4 ' is just a little too bulky. Their are a few more changes but they could go in the readme.
