Default Getting a new desktop - Power supply help please

Hello, i'm buying a new desktop computer in the next couple weeks and need some help/advice about whether i need to upgrade the power supply and if i didn't, what impact that would have on the system.

The desktop i'm looking at is a HP Pavilion Elite 475a. Its specs are:

    Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 processor 870
    2.93 GHz, DMI 2.5GT/s

    RAM: 8 GB DDR3

Graphics Card: Upgrading to either a ATI Radeon HD 5830 or 5850

    Hardrive: 1TB

    Power supply: 300W

Any help regarding the power supply would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!

    Get this power supply.

Anyways, I doubt your computer will work with that 300w powering it. If you're lucky, it just won't power on at all. If you're unlucky, it will power up, and just randomly shut off when you draw too much power. Which isn't good for your components, let alone unsaved work.

Little by the by for someone who's just going to recommend a Corsair TX 650w and laugh at my PSU choice, it's a good choice. I'm cereal.

Of course, you could pickup something like this power supply instead of the idea of getting a relatively unknown power supply line doesn't sit well with you. Probably also has better QC.

Yes it's bad business running on 300W PSU if it boots up.

    Just giggling.
On serious note true there is nothing wrong with that PSU.

Alright thanks for the help guys. I'll have a look at my options but the PSU suggested looks like its great value and will do the job. +rep
