    Default Merchant Monopoly

    Oi.

I´ve performed the mandatory search on the forum, and it seems there is no monopoly bonus. Not even if I controll all availiable resources of spices will my merchants get anything extra. Is it really so?

Also, is there something like a list of resources that exist on the campaign map? It would help my venetian merchants in their epic struggle to controll the world market of silk (even if they won´t get monopoly bonus).

I play SS 6.3, Meneths latest fixpack, Late Era campaign if it matters.

Monopoly is a trait merchants gain from sitting on the same resource for a long period of time. Has nothing to do with controlling all the same resources. He has eliminated all the local competition for his trade resource or something.

There is a resource list for 6.1 somewhere but not sure if its fully accurate with newer versions.

Silk you should be able to count easily on the map- starts at Constantinople and further east and south a few more. I think 9-10 on the map? Not many but quite enough for most empires for awhile as gold, dye, glass, slaves, silver, ivory, sugar, etc can also be very valuable. The value is determined by closest resource to your capitol and the value of the resource of which there are 3 or 4 ranks. Gold, silk, and glass maybe are rank 1, dye, silver, etc and so on down to the most common supposedly like wheat, coal, and iron won't be very valuable even if the closest resource is half map away.

    Yep. No monopoly.

One I know about, though incomplete (since it is for 6.1, not for 6.3), is here in Resources section: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=329518

There's a list of the resources in a game file. Maybe descr_strat. In here: D:\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Thanks for all help. As noted, the 6:1 list is incorrect, so I simply counted them with toggle_fow. It appears there is silk in Granada, too. The non-profitable monopoly is now a fact.
