    Default Bug Reports for 6.4! - Post CTDs in a new topic!

    Please report only non-CTD bug's in this topic, such as typos or graphical errors.

    If you have a CTD (crash to desktop) problem, create a new thread in this sub-forum.
    Information to include:

    • when is the CTD happening (turn number, who's turn, which era)
    • attach your zipped/rared system.log (can be found in start menu -> stainless steel -> error log)
    • optionally you can attach the save game file.


    Most importantly, if you encounted a CTD or CTM(crash to menu) on faction selection and you just installed 6.4, this is most probably an UAC\VirtualStore Problem.
    The release thread has a solution to this, another way would be to install 6.3 in a different folder outside Program Files, and install 6.4 on it. Due to the nature of the launcher this solution will work.



    KNOWN CURRENT BUGS:

    MINOR BUGS:
    - Battlefield assassins still require an event even if DisableRR is active. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Logging Camp doesn't work for every building it should. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - If you kill a faction early in the game, the "king died" event will pop-up 4-5 times. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Some 'immortal (not ageing)' merchants and priests can spawn. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Witches with Piety instead of Magic on their traits. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Some units don't say anything on the battlemap.
    - "aragon movement bug" still in.
    - Corinth and Konigsberg are a bit off on the stratmap in late campaign. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Seville should actually be Badajoz. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Not all archers get the Archer Guilds boost. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Some steam problems. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Byzantium is having the wrong stratmap UI. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - "Place of worship" building big churches in castles.
    - Bugged bridge between Trebizond and Sinop. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Woodsmen guild missing UI pic inside building browser. (fixed in unreleased ver)
    - Elephant mercenaries available before gunpowder.

    MAJOR BUGS:
    - Hospitaller Knights crash the battlefield when in plate armour upgrade. (fixed in unreleased ver) Fix can be found here

    Tried to have a custom battle with the Knights Hospitaller with plate armour:

    fresh install of 6.4 on 6.3 , perm watch towers and savage AI

    i dont think it's only knights hospitaller, i got crashes with Heavy Swordsmen aswell

    which heavy swordsmen, the knights hospitaller ones? the fix fixes that too iirc. found here:
    Hi Folks,

    Here's a link to a file that should fix the crash caused when using the plate equipped Knights Hospitaller:-

    The error is just caused by a missing texture file, so to fix it all you you need to do is unpack the file included in this zip [en_pplate_hospitaller.texture] and place it into your 'data/unit_models/_units/SS_Templars/textures' folder and that should stop the game from crashing.

    This should be a more permanent link than the one I posted earlier this year, but if anyone else could mirror for me it would be most appreciated, as I tend to vanish for months on end due to work.

    When I try to run the setup for 6.4 it tells me that the Operation is Aborted. Any ideas on the problem?

    whats your operating system?
    do you have steam or disk install?
    does 6.3 work?

    I tried retraining longbowmens and Yeomens in nottingham, w/c defaultly has the woodsmen's guild... the problem is that the training doesn't apply, although i can still retrain them... weirdly, when london became a huge city, I could retrain the militia serjeants infinite times, with nothing really happening to them... no, there's no plague or anything....

    I use Early Campaign, Savage AI, RR (with or without), Permanent Arrows, Permanent Watchtowers and I picked several factons and it went to CTD twice in a row...

    Ok, confirmed, plate Hospitaller will cause a CTD. However, there will be a fully save compatible fix to this so no worries. And it's now so common to have plate Hospitallers anyway

    @Hyaweh
    I have checked, everything is fine over there. The units get the bonus, what did you mean exactly?

    Probably an UAC or VitrualStore problem, the release post has some ways around this.
    A 1 definite solution is to install SS6.3 somewhere outside Program Files and then install 6.4 on it.

    gracul- just to let ya know, I tried the old battle_modles.modeldb form 6.3 and the problem did not occur. but I have no idea what that could cause with other things, just used as a test. As i said above, appears to only happpen with the knights Hospitallers dismounted and knights.

    I get my xp bonuses now, but I swear as england, I could train archer-types in nottingham many times... prolly due to the archer's guild? i'ma try later

    I ran SS6.4, gone to video settings and changed the battle mode from "1280x1024" to "1024x768" and unit detail from high to extreme.
    I then tried to run a custom battle with england vs. Sicily, but an ugly and awful thing has happened:

    While it was loading, the same thing happens: it appears as the 1280x1024 image is printed on the 1024x768 screen, which causes the right and bottom parts not to fit. After I pressed the "Start Battle" button, I received an error message, that Medieval 2 Total war has encountered an unspecified error. I pressed the "ok" button and the game ended.

    I also have MSC 5.03. Don't know if that is relevant...

    When i try to start the game it says that This application failed to start beacuse the application configuration is incorect.im am using Win XP can yoo help me?

    Playing 6.4 with RR/RC, savage ai, BGR2 and permanent watchtowers. Tried several campaigns both late and early start.
    Issue 1: Often factions are destroyed even though they have not lost all their regions and still have family members alive. For instance after the ai's turns the crusader states became destroyed for no reason and their king became a rebel general.

    Issue 2: Played a late campaign where the Teutonic order became conquered. Yet without any regions/family members they retained one priest and their own place among the AIs turns.

    If you happen to have a savegame before this happens - upload it

    I've started a new late campaign to try and see. Previously I've seen it happen to Crusader States and the Romans.

    Hello everybody. I had a problem with 6.3 mod because it crashed when I was going from turn 51 to turn 52. After that I've downloaded the 6.4 mod and installed it without any problem. When I click in the shortcut there is a box asking if I want to activate steam. Wether I click yes or no the game starts to open and then crashes I just can see the first part saying "stainless steel 6.4" (the screen with a crusader fighting).
    I hope you can help me with at least one of my problems: 6.3 crashing at turn 51 or 6.4 crashing just after it starts running.

    Default not responding error during game setup

    I get a "script not responding error" when trying to tick or untick preferences (eg permant arrows) during installation of SS6.4 . Strangely , I was able to play SS6.4 once but I had to uninstall it due to a not working submod . UAC is off ! So I uninstalled SS6.4 and MTW 2(I don´t need to install the 4 campaigns to play SS6.4,right?) and installed everything again . Same "¤%&#"# ! Do I have to choose preferences ( early campaign or late campaign) after installing SS6.3 ?

    Never mind , after 2 x uninstalling and installing it seems to work now .
