    Default No start up icon

Once the game installed, no icon to launch the game appeared to install. Should I download patch 1.2 to fix it?

The icon should have been created with the 1.1 installer. If you have chosen to get the Trivial Script, then you'll have 4 EB shortcuts in your RTW folder, if you opted out, you'll have a shortcut named EB-Play (if that shortcut doesn't work, check the Frequently encountered issues)

You should definitely get 1.2 and the fixes.
Check How to install EB if you have further questions.

Now I installed 1.2, but the icon in my programs has no program that can open it. I come up with the search saying it can't find 'eb -show_err'

Sorry about that. A product of lacking experience with creating installers, I made a mistake when creating the shortcuts that start EB 1.2.

    • Use the Trivial Script to start EB instead of the start menu shortcut. You need to have installed this as part of EB 1.1.
    • Modify the shortcut target. Move the end quote from the end of the line to directly after RomeTW.exe and it should work (goes for both the new shortcuts in 1.2). For instance, instead of "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err -ne" it should be "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -ne.

Do you have eb-called files in your root RTW-folder?

When I try to launch with the EB trivial script, I get this:

Row: 0 Description: Failed to open file

    XMLScriptParser: Couldn't load file: script.xml
    Error parsing file: script.xml
Row: 0 Description: Failed to open file

Try to start the Trivial Script with admin-rights if you are running Vista/Win7.

If you can answer this question with a yes, then the creation of a new shortcut and the edit of the target line of this will load up EB.

Otherwise I would like to have you read the installation guide I linked for you and check if you did everything like it is said in there.

Also, I tried changing the .exe in properties, and that failed as well.

    Dear XSamatan,

I regret to inform you that I have been an idiot. Had I followed the instructions for the link the FIRST time, I would have discovered the game would have worked. Instead, I wasted your time with a problem I could have solved much earlier. I thank you for your help and I am VERY impressed with this mod!
