Default the sultan escaped the battle ALIVE but DIED anyway???

i noticed something very stange while playing koj campaign in bc2.02 i made a great battle between Emperor Fredrick Barbarossa & Sultan Kilij Arslan of the sultanate of rum, i defeated the sultan & i'm 1000% sure he escaped the battle ALIVE cos i was chasing him & the battle is also recorded with fraps, but when the battle ended & returned to the campaign map the turkish sultan made that "aaargh" & died & the turkish crown prince obviously became sultan..

How can that be?? i'm sure he escaped alive & he died anyway after the battle not in the battle, just as the screen returns to campaign map.. its wierd!!!

u guys think its some kind of bug or anything??

maybe he died from old age after he get out of the battle; how old he was, do you have any idea?
or maybe he died because of wounds.

    i don't think it is a bug.

no mate he couldn't, cos it was right as soon as the campaign started in 1174 & he was 46 years old. Cos i created my own Emperor Barbarossa & King Richard from the campaign start, rather than i have to loose acre or jerusalem & call a crusade to get them, so as soon as the campaign starts the turkish sultan kilij arslan (even sultan saladin for that matter) will be positioned outside in the open & kilij arslan will be near Konya rather than in some settlement & i made the battle between the emperor & the sultan for the purpose to recorded it.
Could he die of wounds, i never had some general dying from his wounds so far & he wasn't too bloodied either. I just can't understand why..

That's a bug. If a general loses all his bodyguards in battle he will automatically die on the campaign map. Not sure what's causing this and if it's related only with BC.

i thought so, cos its not normal that he escapes & dies anyway after... not evryone of his bodyguard was dead tho but only 1 guy was with him..

i think i've solved the bug.....
if you go to your EDU (export_descr_units) file @ your broken crescent folder, you must find the unit you want to edit, go to the "stat_stl" line, and change the number to 1. thats it!!!
the line says whats the minimum number of units your unit needs to survive in the campaign
btw srry for my bad english

Yes, it seems "stat_stl" could do the trick.

Thanks for the finding, Filips Augustus.
