AFAIK Hard battle difficulty gives +2 to enemy troops' morale and defense skill...
Medium difficulty, they have the same unit stats you, the human player would.
EDIT: SS is WAY more difficult than Vanilla M2TW.
You get used to it. The challenge is worth it, because
this mod(and it's plethora of submods) is what M2TW should have been.
SS doesn't change the difficulty level of battles in regards to AI bonuses etc as they are hardcoded.
In current campaign I'm playing VH battles and I like it - they are much more realistic and epic because you can actually lose a battle. On M and H it's nearly impossible to lose.

Yes, they can be harder on VH, but much more unbalanced since it's not the AI that is upgraded... Only bonuses that put you in disadvantage. Not fair for me.
Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

Why is it that AI getting bonus seems so unfair on VH? Ideally it would be a combination of better AI strategies + AI bonus in money and units but bonus is right for VH. It is supposed to be Very Hard though really the AI should get even more bonus or player get money removed to make it harder. It works this way in almost every game out there.
I will try M campaign and H battles...

VH, because you can lose. Of course AI get bonuses but not have a human brain.![]()

I dont like when I lose,so I want chalenge but not to lose, and not battle evry turn so,I can do VH battles but campaign on M.

On VH if enemy have real general (not just captain) it will rout only after death of that general. If there will be just captain, then they will rout after first flanking manover.
"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." George Orwell
That is not right. Units can still rout in battle with a general alive on VH it just takes much more to make them. And on VH many units don't rout just due to a flanking maneuver when commanded by a captain. Militia units might but not much else.
Also on VH routed units usually reform quite fast if above 25% remaining. If you don't want to fight same unit 2x you have to kill or capture them all.
