Re: Domus Claudii
The horses stopped before the houses heavy wooden doors.
"We're here, domine," said Gallus, "don't you recognize your own home?"
"I don't even recognize my own country, friend. I go to Iberia for 5 years and come back to find rebellions, death and chaos, spies and corrupt senators, and a destroyed Curia. Has this city gone mad?"
"The war was tough, and a test to our allies loyalty. They have obviously failed. Ambitious men use that as a mean to reach more power. To be honest, I would have expected you to be more than informed on this, having served in Consul Scarus's legions."
"We did not know until we took Emporiae. Until then we were cut from the rest of the world. Perhaps the Consul knew.." he paused.
"I wouldn't blame him for not saying, it would have lowered the men's morale. About the Curia, I only learnt when I reached Ostia."
"You will have time to get familiar with the current events in the following days, Domine. You should now rest and prepare for the days ahead. Rome needs her Senators to be wise and fit for the troubles ahead."
Regilliensis nodded. It was good to be back.

Re: Domus Claudii
Gaius entered the domus, finding Claudius in working clothes, gladius and scutum on each hand, fighting a thicker man armed with a two-handed longsword.
"Domine, Senator Gaius Julius wishes to have a word with you."
"Ah!" he yelled upon receiving a blow from his oponnent, nearly knocked down, "Stop!"
The fighter put the sword down, and helped Regiliensis with his shield.
"Senator, it's good to see you," he said, as he got rid of the gladius, "do you want some water, wine, food? What can I do you for?"

Re: Domus Claudii
"It would seem that you are getting yourself ready to take on all of Gaul by the looks of things"
Septimus chuckled
Some wine, please. Anyway, I have not had the chance to introduce myself, as things have been keeping me preoccupied with the Senate and you yourself having been away. As introduced by your slave, I am Gaius Julius Septimus, which you im sure know one way or another....
He laughed, almost somberly before continuing..
...Everyone knows what unfortunate incident had taken place during my tenure as Consul.....

Re: Domus Claudii
"Yes, I arrived at the end of your term, so I'm fairly ignorant on specific details."
The slave brought a goblet for the guest.
"What do you think of this last term? Do you find it satisfactory?"

Re: Domus Claudii
Satisfactory in that the Consuls managed to accomplish their tasks, unfortunately tasks that i only had the opportunity to sit and watch. I am torn as to if i shall run for Consul again, or governor.
Septimus sipped from his goblet
I think Consul one more term should be enough for me..
