Getting annoyed (SS4.1 problem)

Can someone please help me I just downloaded Stainless steel version 4.1 and for some odd reason theres no sound on the campaige map or the battle map its really a gamebreaker...

Please double check the mike and hardware set up. then move on to your audio software. Check the little audio thingy in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Now of course if you have sound outside of Stainlees Steel... outside of a bad download, let's wait and see what the computer savy folks think...

Please do not double post. It's really not necessary.

Go into data\sounds\ and delete events.idx and events.dat

Perhaps...One trick us computer clueless ones use is to shut everything down{off} then bring it back up. It works sometimes....

If it was a bad download you wouldn't be able to play campaign or battles, period.

Check your ss4.cfg file for
[audio]
enable = 1

the other settings in the audio section should be looked at also. Compare or duplicate with the audio section of medieval2.preference.cfg.

Go into data/sounds and delete all 8 idx and dat files and restart the game so they can rebuild.

The majority of sounds in SS41 are read from the vanilla sound packs, If it still doesnt work one of the sound txt files is missing or misplaced.

I never played or installed ss4, only ss5 for kingdoms, so I'm generalizing about the cfg names and ss folder path name. Good luck!.

SS4.1 isn't modfoldered so the sound files have to be in M2TW\data.

I dont know were to find the ss4.cfg audio folder how do I get to it??

Thanks man ill just unistall and re-install. and one other thing ha can you buy Kingdoms from steam and still use the stainless steel 6.0??? thanks again

It wont be called ss4.cfg as wolfslayer was only generalizing the file name. There should be a .cfg file in your M2TW folder.

Oh lol..then forget everything I said..except deleting all the idx/dat files in and letting them rebuild. Sorry for the mistake,

Next time post what you already tried or doublecheck the topics in which you already sought help, thanks.
