Modifications utterly confuse me

Can anyone explain (or direct me to) some help concerning mods? I remember downloading some random mods for E:TW a few months ago that would conflict with one another and make the game trashy in comparison to the vanilla. I'm not completely retarded, I just need some simple help.

Maybe some recommendations as to the programmes I need and what mods I should download too? Thanks.

Ok. First, download ModManager (you'll find it on this site). This program is very useful, but only for small mods.

Secondly, about mods for ETW, I'd recommend you DarthMod, a wonderful mod that improves the game over all. Be aware, using ModManager for this or other mods will cause CTDs, so use their own setups.

Download the NTW Mod Manager.

And heres a list of hosted modifications that do a number of things like fix or change the AI, add additional buildings and units, etc. Usually downloading and installing more than one will cause the mods to conflict with each other so pick the one you want and install that one.
