What do you mean with that? we can edit it in small parts

Edit: Now that we have this tool i would suggest a world map project basically it would be a world map to be shared with all the community. What do you think?

EDIT: Another strange thing happens. Gimp does not let me use a big brush, it turns it always to a thin line...

EDIT2: I am working on a big part if the map that is why I suffer all these...

I know what you mean. Photoshop has trouble with anything over 1GB. I found the largest file I could manage was an 8th (0-32, 0-16).

The whole map is 65536 by 32768. Everything will look like a thin line on something that huge. Try selecting a large area and using the fill bucket (paint can).

I decided to add a new texture to the whole world and here are the results.

However at the edges of the campaign map it doesn't display correctly. This may be because these regions haven't been entered correctly in the various map files because they were never meant to be playable.

One of the problems with adding textures it that it's impossible to determine how it will look in game because the image is so huge, though I was impressed with how my Indonesia turned out. The only exception is the sea, which can be a single colour because ETW adds the waves.

I definitely feel more research is needed into which areas can be recoloured and which ones cannot. This will prevent people wasting time on areas that at present can't be changed.

This may be a bug in stupid caused by a minor difference in the format between Empire and Napoleon that I'm not handling entirely correctly. I will investigate. If it is what I think then you won't need to redo anything, it will just require a repack once the exe is fixed (which can be achieved cheaply by extracting and then repacking a single tile at 0 0).

I've notified something strange, I've added sea between America and Europe, then i started the game and right it was there, but then i notified that right side of Russia there was sea too

Edit: There is sea around all the world in fact.

I've notified that too, but yes it shall be 'cause of the big size.

I've added water between Europe and America but something isn't right, I've edited the image correctly, I mean I've changed the entire area to white...

But send a ship to the area solved the problem, so what is it? FOW?

First of all, lets just try to add region where does not exist a settlement but region is already in map, such as Kazakistan region. Then world map can be thought..

Okay then. As the preview was fine so I thought it was a problem with ETW, rather than your program.

It would be easier to try to add a town or resource to an existing region, than add a settlement to a region without a settlement. However no one knows how to do either.

Just because units can't exit doesn't mean that "no one knows" how to do it. In a pinch, you make the area around the new resource/town impassable and you don't have to sweat about units trapped there.

How do you make the area around the town/resource impassible? So far you can only make regions impassible.

    @uanime5

Do you know how to make impassable regions, passable?

When connecting Europe to America I've notified that the black areas don't have sea trade routes, does somebody know which file create them?

I think the sea_grids.esf controls which sea regions can trade with which other sea regions. Unfortunately I don't know how to edit it.

:O does this actually allow you to add regions outside of existing theatres? If yes, incredible! and can you access those regions by moving over without being limited by the edge of the map?

You can see the black areas by changing the theaters borders in regions.esf

I have updated stupid.exe in the original post. Hopefully the new exe will fix the tiling problem discovered by uanime5 and also the issue Fortes encountered with the area between America and Europe.

In addition to this fix I have added multithreading and found and turned on the SSE2 support in libsquish. Single core machines should now pack at least twice as fast. Multicore machines should pack approximately 2n times as fast, where n is the number of cores. I've only tested it on dual core so I'll be interested in feedback from triple/quad/hex-core users.

Nice work you have done crux3D. I have made a couple of batch files to make the packing and extracting easier for those who do not know their way around the command prompt.Simply unpack and put on your C: drive if your drive is another letter just edit the two Batch files Extract/Pack.Copy the original Supertexture.pack file into the stupid folder and away you go.The packed file will be called new_supertexture and will need renaming first before it is used
