    Default About the campaign map in SV 4 ! :-)

    Hey :-)

    I'm checking this forum almost every day to see the news and the previews : this mod seems to be an excellent one , if not the best one out there !! The progress and the units look impressive !

    I've one question though: are you going to stay with the map of the last version of SV ?
    I'm asking this because I always found the map a little too small .

    With all the work that the implementation of the Broken Crescent units demanded, I don't expect it for this next patch. SV worked on units, and may change provinces around, but adding map renovation to that list would be unreasonable. Consider all the research and planning that would take for each of the five eras.

    I'm with you in wanting more regions and lands to conquer - with a great mod like this, encountering that Black Emptiness at the edge of the map is disappointing. Given enough time, maybe someday Chivalry II will stretch to the Caspian/Persian Gulf areas. It would make for one hell of a Byzantine campaign to war with the Parthians!

    Bruce is correct, it would be too big a job with all the campaign balancing that would be required. This will have to wait until after 4.0 is released

    Just wondering.

    Do you think that the map area is to small and should be extended either north and/or east
    or
    Do you mean that the campaign map itself should be larger (ie, covering the same area, but with more distance between settlements?)

    Should be larger !! Just to let you know : I wasn't talking about extending the map to East or whatever , I was just talking about the size itself , the distance between the settlements should be larger , etc. ! :-)

    Yeah a more polished version of the Deus Vult map would be great for this mod. I understand the work it would take but that's what dreams are made for.

    This thread seems better than starting a new one, but I have an issue I have noticed while playing the Byzantines.

    Amestris, the city/province to the North and East of Nicea, is not connected to the rest of Anatolia via road. It only has a road leading to its port.

    This fact has always slowed my troop movement down a good deal, unless I can use ships to shuttle my troops around. After a certain point, I have ships shuttling my armies around as almost second nature, so this is not a big problem. I was wondering why there was no road in this particular location though.
    To promote or encourage the use of boats as Byzantium?

    I can understand Trebizond having no roads out, except into the Caucasus regions, and Caesarea in central Anatolia having no roads going North - those mountains are daunting.

    why not ask for the map or take it by force then?

    i wonder if repmen or whoever made the map for dlv would mind?
    i mean modding for m2tw is slowly dying anyways so it would be great to compress many of the good modding products into one mod.

    lol, modders aren't cowboys or pirates...the respect is the most important thing, same before the skills of one modder...

    It's not so easy to switch maps. so much has gone into balancing....it is a daunting task to redo all that.

    yeah the by force part was a joke..
    the rebalancing point i didnt take into consideration at all. also now that i think about it repmens map includes a part of america which i dont find a good idea. the map of dlv europa i cant remember..

    Precisely, re balancing and just the map in general would take quite some time. And i think we all want too play chivalry 4.0 as soon as possible . needless too say any major, even minor, map changes could derail 4.0's release date.


    I say we stay patient and see what SV has planned for future versions, i'm sure somewhere down the line he has plans for a map redo or something too that effect.

    How play Renaissance Era less the Age of Discovery?
    SV had yet planned one Europa focused Campaign(Lithuania planned). For after the 4.0 version.To correct me if I'm not right...
    But I share the idea about the DLV Map at large, sure she is beatifull...And 4 provinces are suffisant for America, the challenge about codding is to improve heavily the campaign_script about the conversion of the amerindian peoples, to plan a lot of tribal rebellions, and some interactive colonialist economy.
    I know the basic America as in the main campaign of vanilla MTW2 is depressing...

    That is not all. Thinking back on the vanilla MTW2, I was very surprised initially when the game did not include Iceland, Greenland, or the Shetland Islands. Historical significance was the reason, I suppose.

    Yes Bruce, as you know, the discovering of these nordic parts were less importants than the rest of America(a new way to join Asia, and a lot of gold/silver)
