A few ideas I had for Shogun that I'd love if CA were to at least look at, feel free to post your own.
1. Enhanced diplomatic options, and smarter diplomacy AI. Out of all the Total War games, I think this is the one in which Diplomacy is the most important. Daimyo switching alliances, Samurai changing sides, all of this should be included. If a faction is getting the snot kicked out of it, it shouldn't turn down a peace offer from it's enemy, and demanding vassalhood should be a realistic option. In 6 years of playing Total War games, I've had 1 protectorate without using the liberate option.
2. Sieges: I'd like to see walls slow down infantry more, troops stationed on the walls attempt to throw rocks to dislodge attackers, and increased technological advancements that make walls more difficult or impossible to climb.
3. Koku: I liked in the original Shogun how a harvest's worth of koku had to last until the next harvest. It made you plan ahead and think more strategically about how you spent your money, and when. Why start building a new farm right before harvest, when it won't contribute anything to your coffers for an extra turn while you wait for the harvest.
I don't tink any of this is hard or revolutionary, except Diplomacy AI. But if you have no army, and attacker has big army, a ceasefire may be in order.
