Default What We'd Like to See in Shogun 2

A few ideas I had for Shogun that I'd love if CA were to at least look at, feel free to post your own.

    1. Enhanced diplomatic options, and smarter diplomacy AI. Out of all the Total War games, I think this is the one in which Diplomacy is the most important. Daimyo switching alliances, Samurai changing sides, all of this should be included. If a faction is getting the snot kicked out of it, it shouldn't turn down a peace offer from it's enemy, and demanding vassalhood should be a realistic option. In 6 years of playing Total War games, I've had 1 protectorate without using the liberate option.

    2. Sieges: I'd like to see walls slow down infantry more, troops stationed on the walls attempt to throw rocks to dislodge attackers, and increased technological advancements that make walls more difficult or impossible to climb.

    3. Koku: I liked in the original Shogun how a harvest's worth of koku had to last until the next harvest. It made you plan ahead and think more strategically about how you spent your money, and when. Why start building a new farm right before harvest, when it won't contribute anything to your coffers for an extra turn while you wait for the harvest.

I don't tink any of this is hard or revolutionary, except Diplomacy AI. But if you have no army, and attacker has big army, a ceasefire may be in order.
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

A population system that separates Ashigaru/Samurai and so on...
Samurai units will cost this much koku + will take this much from the samurai population, Ashigaru units cost this much koku + will take this much from the Ashigaru population.

    Army and general customization.

Just some options would be nice. Like being able to choose between three styles when creating a samurai regiment. Then there could be the option of using the appearance for all of them or seperatly, so you could have some looking different.

General customization seems to be included, but I am not sure if it is for all generals. Sure would be nice to be able to customize them all to look unique. That way you could reward your best generals by wearing more impressive armors, and sometimes give them armor that matches their personality.

That has been fixed in Empire and Napoleon.
If you or an AI want to cross someone elses land they have to get military access first.
If you do not have military access with the one that owns the land you will declare war.

Edit: sorry, I see what you mean now.

    i d like to seein shogun 2

    1. reasonable cai and bai
    2. almost flawless pathfinding
    3. proper melee like in older tw games
    4. diplomacy that seems reasonable and real
    5. increased modding capabilities or tools that make it possible/easier

a game programmed so clean that the game runs nicely and you dont need to fix the rushed programming by upgrading hardware

id like to see a in game tool to make movies with, now i know it sounds strange but would be nice to roam about and make footage with a "cine ed" with out a modder made one and in the menu's a collection piled together would define somones campaign you could even creat your own wallpapers, screen savers and loading screen's using this.

What people need to realise is that mod tools could fix all these problems that have been evoked in the past...I'm sick and tired of people demanding an incredibly complex game.

CA are targeting the casual gamer (Maybe not so much this game though, bad example) so it's normal that things won't be as complex and difficult as in the first games. They need more customers as well as their old fans.

RTW is still the game that casual gamers enjoyed the most as the publicity and the simplicity was staggering, yet those who bought Rome after Medieval were somewhat dissapointed that Civil wars, character attributes and the countless factions had gone...What fixed this for them? Great mods like EB and RS that give them (and myself included) the complexity they demanded.

If we had mod tools, the hardcore fans would be happy (as they are the ones who normally use these) and the casual gamers will be happy (as the game wouldn't be a maze of features and techs, etc...)

So mod support is what I want.

I wonder how long the turns are gonna be, i liked this short turns in NTW, because they are more realistic and game is more dynamic than those 2 years long turns in MTW2, although it's true that u shouldn't get money each turn cuz that wouldn't be realistic.

    turns are the four seasons...

i too would like your payment to only come once a year... wow, would that make it a true challenge with the campaign game... not sure if CA would do this though.

    anyways... i would like:

1: reduction of draw distance for sprites and/or just better looking sprites

2: a decent Fog of War implemented in battle (i say decent cuz it already looks as if they did not implement any)

3: a strong focus on the automatch system... i know they are focusing on MP, but i really need them to pull this off! w/o a good 1v1 automatch and ladder... much will be the same with NTW's drop'ins... they were strong in the beginning... but when ppl started to get bugged...ppl started to leave... thus there were not alot of ppl on... thus wait times were way too long... and finally, it DIED! if you dont believe me... go try it now... and i bet you wont get a game till SH2 is relased... or even till NTW2
