Default Help with virus protection strategy

At best, McAfee is border-line useless and Windows Defender seems to be constantly susceptible to being disabled by viruses.

I currently use Scotty WinPatrol for monitoring what's running on my computer and removing any problem programs and Defender for general virus checking, but I'm wondering if this is sufficient and if not - what are some other good free anti ad-ware and general virus protections out there that I should consider adding.

I have a Vista 64 bit quad core Dell PC.

I find that what I use to be working just fine as I tend to visit many sites because of my work, so try these free programs:

    Avira Antivirus : http://www.free-av.com/

    Malwarebytes : http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    SuperAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/

Firewall for me is hardware, so best around.

    I use all of these....
