Is there any difference if I have those or not?
I lost my old disks except for R:TW vanilla and I want to try this, but if I will be missing out on content without alex/BI, then I will re-buy those.

Be real.
In short, yes. BI has more naval invasions and generally well balanced armies as well as better AI than RTW. Alex has well balanced armies, they retrain (I love that feature), and much better AI than RTW. Alex's AI is usually considered the best but some will argue for BI. It all comes down to personal preference. I use Alex and enjoy the gameplay.

OK, I will install all of them then.
Be real.
Hi there, if you need to buy Alex and BI, a good place to buy them is at AMAZON.com. You can get all three disks for less than $40. Its called ROME TOTAL WAR ANTHOLOGY. This was the best solution for me and I haven't had any problems installing RS2 and the patch plus any of the sub mods. Good luck?
Ok Chris, so I like to spend money. LOL! If you can get it cheaper, why not! Go for it.![]()
I just went online to AMAZON.com. The going price for ROME TOTAL WAR ANTHOLOGY is $20.14 USD new. Sorry, my mistake.![]()
If you start playing a campaign w/ one engine, say RTW, can you switch engines to BI or Alex mid-campaign or do you have to start a new one?
"With a population of around a million, Rome (in Claudius' time) was a vast city even by modern standards. It is worth pointing out that during the early Renaissance the population of Rome was no more than fifteen thousand-- living amid the ruins of a civilization that dwarfed their own. It was not until the nineteenth century that the population of Rome returned to the levels it had enjoyed under the Caesars. That is eloquent proof of the fact that human history is not a tale of steady progress towards greater knowledge and achievement." Simon Scarrow
I think you can upgrade from RTW to BI or alex but you cant go backwards me thinks.
Make a backup save in case something goes wrong, but as far as I know you can't go backwards.
Hi everybody...
Any clear answer guys?????? im also very interested about which is the best to use AL exe or BI exe...????
I'm using BI but I've also got Alexander on my computer. I'd be interested to know the real differences myself. Would like to know why the AI in Alexander is different than BI.
The AI in Alexander retrains it's troops. I've personally noticed that in BI the AI really overdoes the naval invasions imo, but in Alexander they are tuned down a bit (they still build navies though).
I use Alex, but in my opinion it's about the same as BI. Maybe the battle AI is slightly better but I'm not sure.

Rome total war complete (RTW, BI, ALEX) is 9,99 usd in steam, pretty cheap
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

Hi
Regarding your question, I can tell you that the AI in Alex is really giving you hard time during battles
Full strong stacks, flanking maneuvers with caverly and a good use of diplomacy.
So if you are looking for a good challange, try H/H with Alex
People keep saying BI has naval....what does that mean? Does Alex's AI not do naval attacks/invasions?
