When you put the CD in or when you try and run the game? If the second you likely don't have permissions to edit the registry where the license information is stored.

What version of the game do you have? Where did you get it?

If you have Vista or Win 7, you have to log in as Administrator.

I have the same problem. It happens when I try to run the game. I have Windows XP.
There was a problem with my PC in which stuff was moved around- e.g. I have to access my desktop from My Computer/D/My Documents.
Maybe I should try log in as Admin?
Fallout NV is working- but it doesn't need a CD. I don't know if any of the other games with CDs have the same problem- I didn't think of checking.

    ps Reinstalling didn't work.

Hi Irishron. I got it the day it came out originally, from a normal High Str store- been working fine since. I got some malware or something on my PC. Malwarebytes cleaned it but the damage done seems to affect Kingdoms (and Medieval 2- when I click to run it nothing happens). After I reinstalled the issue remained.

When you uninsalled, did you delete the Sega folder and run a registry cleaner before reinstalling?

I did delete the Sega folder but didn't run a registry cleaner. Now I'll go google this to see how I can go about it... Would I need to delete the game again, before running a registry cleaner?

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I just downloaded free AVG PC Tuneup and RegCure. Can I run more than one registry clean if the 1st didn't solve the issue? Also, I guess I don't have to uninstall the game before the clean-up?

    ps downloaded Eusing too.

To do a clean install, uninstall everything first starting with the Kingdoms campaigns.

Yes, I know. I just don't know if I have to uninstall the game before I do a registry clean (and if I can do more than one one after another). I'll give it a go tonight.

I would do the uninstall and delete routine, again before running it. My experience says this is best.

Sadly, it didn't work. Damage done was too much I guess. I can play a game that doesn't need a CD- Fallout NV. But I can't play other games that need a CD. I can't even do Windows Sys Restore. I hope the F11 route works and does the job.

    Still, thanks for the advice.

It sounds like you're down ot reformat the harddrive and reinstall everything. Viruses can do that.

Looks like it. It was really easy to get rid of- single malwarebytes did it. But it did something so I can't run games with CDs (t doesn't stop me installing though). This PC I use for hardly anything else than playing- M2TW mods mostly. I hope reformating fixes it.
    Take care mate

Have you tried a System Restore point before the virus?

You may have to reformat and reinstall Windows.
