What you need to do is look closely at the Modding Legions files and the game file you're trying to edit. Nearly each descr_model_battle is different depending on the mod you're using. The problem you may be encountering is that some of the Roman units have slave units, if you mod straight from the Modding Legions file into the SPQR file without looking carefully enough, it will cause the CTD's you're talking about.

In order to fix this, you don't need to do anything drastic like uninstalling the mod. Make a new folder on your desktop and install SPQR 5.0 into it. Look through the data folder and find the descr_model_battle file and open it. Go down towards the Roman units (you'll need to do the same if you want the officers, near the top) and find which units in particular that you modded. Some may have slave units, some may not, but having to go in and edit each unit can get somewhat tedious, especially after doing it a few times. What I suggest is copy and paste the descr_model_battle from the new folder you created and have it replace the file you've already edited. What it does is that it clears away all the edited material and allows you to work with a clean slate. Now that you have that solved, you can start modding the file again. What you may want to do is have the ML file and the SPQR file open at the same time, in order to compare and see if the units are the same or need a bit of alteration to get the game to run.

If after all this, going through and carefully editing the units, that you still have difficulty, I can be of some assistance since I successfully modded SPQR last night (and on the first try I might add, which rarely ever happens). Send me a PM with your e-mail and I could send you my edited files, free of charge

Yo, Lt, in 6.0 are you going to change the Roman Republican Cohorts? Cause I would just like to see them have the same helmets as the Imperial Cohorts, thats all, other wise, I don't really care.

Um no because the republican cohorts did look like that in Caesars day. I look at it this way, if you want caesars men, use the republican cohorts, if not use the late Imperial cohorts. Works good really. Otherwise they will look like Closes with Chainmail Armor. Whole Idea is to have different flavor. Next it would be putting the Praetorian look back for the urban cohorts etc. See what I mean, then your right back to the vanilla.

Oh didn't know that they looked like that. They look alright, although I think they would look cooler with Late Imperial Helmets, but alas, that can not be. lol

NO! Sheesh. It wasn't even available for 50 years after Caeser's death.
