How quickly do you conquer?

Simple question, just wondering how quickly you fine folks manage to complete your mission objectives in SS before heading off for the Operation: Conquer The World? Not trying to turn it into a braggart topic or who can blitz the fastest or anything like that.

I just wonder because it always seems that I complete the main objectives without having to take too much time and then slowly drift off to other campaigns, never really advancing to any new tech. I don't blitz, I've taken to long stalemates when the Pope pops up in campaigns to try to stretch things out and play more realistically (Let's not upset the POPE!), and have upped the difficulty and AI. When I turtle I usually get attacked by a faction or three and just forget the turtle and start going on the offensive. I've pumped up the difficulty and AI but would really like to get into some of these longer turn campaigns I see posted here a lot and really experience things like the gunpowder events and wondered what tricks or tips or alternate playstyle's you may use.

i roleplay a whole lot...me as my king...so if my king is a great general i tend to attack more...if my king is a coward or a adminstrator i build economy etc etc....i try to follow the character's default and just emphasize his traits. i also never blitz/attack, i wait till im attacked and do retribution based on relations with the nation/grievance of the assault.

Spam as much troops as possable and rush the world.

the events don't really affect the stratergy at all, just more troops to recruit.

I usually try to have a good reputation so I occupy every city/castle and try to only have only a war on 1 front. However if the time calls I might try something like the Turks and just Jihad Vienna then conquer everything on the way, exterminating all the provinces so I don't have to deal with garrisons

As Byzantines, no one could even touch me at turn 50, i was that owning

I always conquer too quickly... I can't help myself. First I swallow every rebel settlement next to me, then there is always a faction attacking me first, then another, followed by another, so I get into some kind of battle rage and after some time, those factions don't exist anymore...

One reason why I don't play vanilla anymore is that I was able to conquer the whole of Europe in about 104 turns playing the turkish faction, the moors were my vassals... but I got bored, so I destroyed them too.

Thanks to the mods I am forced to take my time . RC/RR helped a lot.

Same. On average, I reach my campaign objectives around turn 50 (if I am actually going for them).

I never attack anything but rebels, and even when the ai start attacking me I mainly stick to defence - so I expand too slowly and then usually drown in a never ending stack war with 75% of the map ....

In spurts, I hang around the Vatican waiting for bold factions to get excommed, then I wade in and grab 2 or 3 regions. I generally never wage war on the well behaved factions, because in the end all the children are bad sometimes!

It's too hard for me to play only defense, so there's always someone attacking me and well at some point defense is boring and AI won't make peace even after losing its stacks, so I have to conquer them, at least a few regions, to slow their production and coerce them into negotiating, then another AI attacks me and by turn 50 or 80 I own most of my objectives without even rushing.
So yes I'm having a hard time seeing gunpowder units...

i always take over the rebel settlements near me....i try to attack as quickly as possible, destroying everything in my way...but after i get a huge empire, my cities are usually defenseless because i send most troops to battle...then my expansion becomes slow because everyone starts taking my cities and i try to take them back
