Default Is there a way to make cannons fire faster?

Is there any way to make cannons (or any missile unit for that matter) fire faster? I've combed through most of the data files and I can't find anything relating to fire speed, but I've been known to miss things like this.

The only thing I can think of is modding, or for the soldiers to have more experience.
But if you can´t any files on that, then it should be impossible.

You shouldn´t rely very much on artillery or missile units anyway.

Not sure it's helpful or not. Never try on siege weapons just tried on gunner in SS

The first thing is you need to unrar the file if you're playing vanilla

Then go to export_descr_unit. Find the weapon you want

    Example. we have this

    type NE Trebuchet
    dictionary NE_Trebuchet ; Trebuchet
    category siege
    class missile
    voice_type Heavy
    banner faction main_missile
    banner holy crusade
    soldier NE_Trebuchet_Crew, 16, 2, 1
    engine trebuchet
    attributes sea_faring, hardy, can_withdraw, artillery
    formation 1.5, 1.5, 3, 3, 3, square
    stat_health 1, 0
    stat_pri 7, 3, no, 0, 0, melee, artillery_mechanical, piercing, knife, 25, 1.8
    ;stat_pri_ex 0, 0, 0
    stat_pri_attr no
    stat_sec 55, 3, trebuchet, 285, 30, siege_missile, artillery_mechanical, blunt, none, 25, 1
    ;stat_sec_ex 0, 0, 0
    stat_sec_attr ap, bp, area, launching
    stat_pri_armour 2, 5, 0, leather
    ;stat_armour_ex 2, 0, 0, 0, 5, 0, 0, leather
    stat_sec_armour 0, 0, flesh
    stat_heat 1
    stat_ground 0, 0, 0, 0
    stat_mental 11, disciplined, highly_trained
    stat_charge_dist 5
    stat_fire_delay 0
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 600, 250, 60, 140, 600, 1, 120
    armour_ug_levels 1
    armour_ug_models NE_Trebuchet_Crew
ownership england, scotland, hre, france, denmark, portugal, spain, venice, milan, sicily, papal_states, jerusalem, antioch, ireland, teutonic_order, norway, wales
    era 1 northern_european, southern_european
    ;unit_info 7, 0, 7
    recruit_priority_offset 5

See the number 25? That's a thing call "Min delay" according to this site

    http://totalwar.honga.net/unit.php?v...d=GR_Trebuchet

Just degree that number and your unit will have better rate of fire i think

Also another tips: Replace a number 2with 4 and your siege weapon will have 4 machine. Note that 4 is the max or the game will get CTD

Highly advice you made a back up file before modding

Feed back and correct me if i'm wrong

I think you'll find that it didn't work on that gunner either.

The delay between attacks (that number you're adjusting) is only relevant for melee infantry AFAIK.

Won't you have to speed the animation up? Or am I missing somethign here?

Yes but never get it working (for missiles). Maybe "stat_fire_delay 0" but it's seems useless.

False. False. Flase. But if you put 15 trebuchet per unit and take it 10, the game engine will try to align the 150 trebuchets in one line, going after the limits of the map, ---> CTD

A way to do it is surely doing new animations I think.

    Lord Butters I,

These are the only missile weapon specific delay adjustments:

    delay standard 0.0
    delay flaming 30.0
    delay gunpowder 20.0

    They are found in descr_projectiles.txt.

Consider that reloading animations are not speeded up by this setting, so they don't affect the whole cycle that much.
