    Default Going to install DLV

I just downloaded a fresh unaltered version of MTW2 and Kingdoms from Steam. I went on the forums to see how to get the latest version of DLV and I am very confused. I am new to mods, and I wanted to see if there was a simple explanation or step by step guide to get DLV working so I can enjoy it all.

    Thanks

Are you sure you want to expose yourself to the addictive nature of this mod? Fitzcarraldo7 it'll take over your life, pets will starve, partners neglected, house plants wilt, etc. Best step away from those links by lafeeverted, he's just keen to see you as hooked as we all are. Flee while you still can. Play something more sensible... Heh.

You are too late Tokus. It has been downloaded and so no matter what he does it will be installed. He will be assimilated into the DLV + BB community

Your not too late yet. I am struggling on getting this thing to load up and install. I haven't downloaded anything yet

    So I get this right

I need to dl DLV 6.0 then the patch to make it 6.2

How do I get that to work with steam? Something about logging on as administrator?

PLease help...I want to play this so bad!

    Stop!

Download DLV 6.0,part1 and part 2 if they do not have exe after them you can simply rename them so they end in .exe. You need to unite the files by placing both in a folder and running the first one the you can run the united file and install into your Kingdoms Mods Folder steam/steam apps/common/med2 tw/mods/

if this is done correctly you will now have a folder DLVext inthe Kingdoms mods folder under all the campaign folders

    next

rename one of your Kingdoms mods ex. Americas to Original File and rename DLVext to Americas

because we use steam we have to trick it into thinking it is a Kingdoms folder hehe

now to make sure DLV is working launch the game through steam and select Kingdoms and then America

if that is working correctly next you will apply the 6.2 patch. This DOES NOT GO INTO THE KINGDOMS MOD FOLDER read the install instructions for the patch very easy they just are not infront of me as I type. Use the same path that is listed only you must locate that place in the steam folder structure something like steam/steam apps/common/med2 tw.

Now launch the game again to insure all is working so far

you should see a splash screen with DLV 6.2 graphic
if it is then proceed with installing BB.

Non steam users can install directly to the DLVext folder but again, since we use steam you need to be installing now into the newly named Americas folder

if that is done correctly when you launch the game you will see an updated aDLV splash screen with the BB2.8 graphic
    added

again start up a campaign just to make sure things are working, if you try to select some of the old scenario battles the game will crash

if all is well install the update for BB2.8

Hope this helps and good luck

    Last question:

I dl 6.2 installed it to Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war

After it downloads and extracts the files, it prompts me to close the file....then shortyl after a black box appears for a flash then goes away. When I try to launch the game...it is still version 6.0 and the game itself is very hard to read the text. Once in the game, the screen isn't formatted and all the icons and boxes on the screen are white....

What's going on, maybe I am not supposed to play this game.

    Try renaming the 'crusades' folder:

    (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\crusades

    To 'crusadesbackup'.

Then rename 'DLV_ext' to 'crusades'. Now run the crusades expansion through steam.

i just thought of something, Taiji you might be able to verify this. I amy have given you some bad direction By renaming the Kingddoms folder before installing the patch, the patch will not work correctly. So back track a bit. Change the names of the Kingdoms folders back. Rename the folder you changed back to DLVext. The patch needs this to install I think. after the patch is in place you will find a 6.2 readme file in the folder you can change the names and laucnh the game. Sorry for the confusion if this is the problem.

OK I am starting all over

    I will download 6.0

then download 6.2---where do I send the file? Do I send to the same place as the 6.0 mod? I still don't think it is working where I am downloading it from....any suggestions on where to get it and the process it takes ot download it correctly?

    starting over is good

most of the steps are the same as before but patch before changing the folder name

d/l both parts of dlv 6.0
    put them in a folder
check that they have the exe file extension
run to unite and you will get a new dlv6.0, this is what you then install to the Kingdoms mod folder
you will see a folder in the kingdoms mods DLVext
insatll the patch to the M2TW/ mods folder this is different than the Kingdoms mod, just as you did before
now you can rename the DLVext to a kingdoms campaign folder
    launch the game through steam
    hopefully all is well
i am leaving for work so best of luck, I apologize if my mistaske caused you headaches

Guys! GUYS!! You're leading Fitzcarraldo7 totally astray here... He doesn't suspect what this game'll cost him! DLV should be on the game addiction ban-list (and will be if you carry on making it even better Taiji).

Avert yo' eyes from the evil DLV mod kids!

This game really is ruining my life.

I was downloading DLV 6.2 to try to install this all over again...when all of a sudden my computer froze for a second then failed. I tried to click on my internet browser and it said it couldn't recognize it and wanted to run it as a pdf. Anyway to make a long story short...3 hours with tech support got me to get rid of EVERYTHING on my computer and I had to reboot it back to the just out of the box state. I lost everything....

SO, now i am back where I started....with steam, kingdoms, and nothing else wishing that I could play DLV.

OH MY! Hope you got things working again. Take a deep breath and step away from the computer for a bit. When all this is up and running again you will be very happy.
