I just installed it. I have rome total war and BI installed. I mod foldered RTR into a sub folder. When I try to load I get the following error message.
Any ideas?

Do you have vanilla version?

By "modfolderd into a subfolder" you mean you installed RTR to a different location to where your whole RTW is installed?
If thats the case then therein lies the problem I believe.

I created in subfolder for RTR in the rome total war folder. Is that not the correct way to install ?

Nope... You have to install it like explained in the installation instructions. if a mod isn't mod-foldered, you can't just turn it into a mod-foldered one by putting it in a subfolder
