The Age of Victoria and Albert (1837-1861)
This mod would focus on the mid-century campaigns and wars during the early Victorian era that spanned the globe and would result in the strengthening of 'the empire on which the sun never set'. The wars included:
The Canadian Rebellion (Britain vs Canadian rebels)
The Opium War (Britain vs China resulting in the Chinese Empire's humiliating defeat and surrender of Hong Kong to Britain)
The First Afghan War (Britain vs Afghan tribes, the disastrous first phase culminating in the last stand at Gandamak and subsequent reprisal invasion by the British)
The Maori War (Britain vs Maori in New Zealand)
The First and Second Sikh Wars (Britain vs the Sikhs in India)
The Seventh and Eighth Cape Frontier Wars (Britain vs the African Tribes)
The Crimean War (Britain, France, Turkey and Piedmont-Sardinia vs Russia)
The War for Italian Independence (France and Piedmont-Sardinia vs Austria)
The Indian Rising/Mutiny (Britain vs Indian mutineers)
The Texas Uprising (Texas vs Mexico)
The Mexican American War (United States vs Mexico)
The forces included therefore would comprise:
British Empire
French Empire
Ottoman Turkish Empire
Russian Empire
Austrian Empire
Piedmont-Sardinia
Chinese Empire
United States of America
Mexican Republic
Canadian Rebels
Afghan Tribes
Maori Warriors
African Tribes
Sikkim
Chinese Taipings
The units could start out as skins pending actual models.
The game would focus on a campaign, such as in NTW, but for RTW. Instead of building up various temples or brothels, etc. the focus would be on building things like Newspapermen's Quarters or Photography Laboratory which would affect public opinion, Hospitals to help the men recover after battles (enable retraining) and most importantly Supply heads - Temporary Supply Base, Secondary Supply Base, Main Supply Base, which basically provides your income. Another 'building' would be 'campaign objective' which would provide income and motivation to hold on to particular 'provinces'.
Turns would be bi-weekly to reflect the lower scale of operations and maps would focus on a campaign area instead of a europe or asia wide map. Units would be scaled, as much as possible, one to one, so that particular battles could be simulated. The basic maneuver unit would be squadrons for cavalry, batteries for artillery and 'divisions' (double companies) for infantry.
