    Default Timurids (AI) vs Crusader States (Player)

    G'day!

    It's turn 100 in my Crusader States campaign, I own anatolia and eastward, all of the provinces, to the natural frontiers between the black sea, caspian, and aral sea.

    Just wondering where the Timurids come so I can place my armies accordingly. Have strong foot knight, and knight cavalry armies, with turkish archers if need be.

    any advice?

    1360, in the same place as the Mongols. Do a search for information on how to fight them.

    They come from the region between Mashad (spelling) and Kerman. There are 3 targets of their invasion and IF you control the target region you will be informed.
    Their targets are Kwarezmian original regions: Konjikala, Yazd or Kerman.
    The first wave contains 12 full stacks then the 2nd wave with another 6 stacks.
    How to fight them ? Definiately await them in cities and citadels. By this time you should have cannon towers there as well
    If you play CS you should fill the cities and castles with heavy infantry + some reliable archers.
    I was mainly using tactic with naffatuns + heavy spearmans/hashams. Occuppying city square with naffatuns (6-8 units at least), all but once street blocked
    by spears, letting the Timurids in - then KABOOM, flying naffta pots everywhere lol.
    Once you bleed them enough in siege battles you can finish them off on the field. I have used an full cavalry stacks (heavy and light cav mix.)

    Is just turn 100, so he not seen mongols yet. 20 more turns mate, same place, but much bigger invasion. Get murtadoi quick. Better, give that regions and around to pope.

    This is the MOST BRILLIANT strategy you can ever use in M2 as a catholic faction. If you want to make Mongols/Timurids MUCH easier, always give the pope several cities in that region. I guarantee the hordes of the east will be far easier to fight when thousands of Crusader armies are pouring in to help out the Pope.

    This is pretty much an exploit. Play the game however you want, but doing that is just manipulating game mechanics to achieve an extremely unusual situation.

    Yeah, and on top of that the Pope is way too strong as well (although he is seriously toned down in 6.3).

    actually i started in a Late campaign so the mongols have come and gone. I modded them so they were the size of the timurid invasion instead of the 60 stacks u sometimes see... if u can kill 10 stacks you can kill 40... just gets redundant.

    i wonder if my cities and castles will actually have cannon towers... some of them have decimated populations thanks to the mongols, and I actually had to sack/exterminate a few as well in order to hold on to them.

    guess we'll see!

    Than is more easy for you. So give them to pope. Papacy will lose the provinces killing timurid stacks, and you will be an freedom fighters coming to save cristianity there.

    You may have some serious problems then, as the black death will strike you soon, around 1345 ;/ ...and when its gone ... Timurids arrives (around 1365).
    Better built some forts and put your most valuable generals there otherwise you lost many of them in infected cities.
