    To install: put this file into the DLV_ext\data\text

    Save-compatible.

    Feel free to suggest any changes

    I will appreciate any help with these: Milan, Egypt, Aztecs, Turks, France, England, Moors, Spain, Georgia.
    What I need is - the names of these factions in native languages(that were used at least during the medieval history) or in latin.

    I just adjust the file and reattach it everytime I add something new, so check the thread from time to time.

    Thank you for your mod!

    You've inspired me too... I'm going to make a nic-name mod and reduce all faction down to one single word. Nice an' blunt. I can barely say the painfully long names as it is (and they run of the screen in some places).

    IIRC, Venetian generals and Family Members are described as Oligarch and something else in that text document.jeez Patriarch may be a better name, I don't know. I will look into some of these funny names and bring you a bag of proper names instead.

    Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    Okay
    BTW, the Patriarch is a word that means the head of the Orthodox chirch, at least in most cases :c But I can be wrong ofc, especially as far as the medieval history is concerned

    .ru

    I updated the silly things.

    Plutocrat and Oligarch now is Patrician and Powerful Patrician. (not patriarch)

    Also changed a handful of changes to the Norwegian ones like what happens when your forces are attacked: "your forces are attacked by a Norse army" (rather then the Latin and formal terminology of "attacked by an army of Riki Norvegh"). It just sound more genuine for a scout to communicate in common tongue.

    Army/fleet - Leidangr
    Spy/assassin - Gestir
    and a few more.

    Updated. Changed Factions' names:

    Il Serenìsima Repùblica di Vèneta -> Serenìsima Repùblica Vèneta
    Il Royaume de Sicile -> Regnu di Sicilia
    Patrimonium Sancti Petri -> Status Pontificius
    Riki Danmaurk -> Kongeriget Danmark
    An Rìoghachd na h-Alba -> Kinrick o Scotland
    El Reino de Gallaecia y Portucal - > Reino de Portugal
    An Tiarnalong de Éire -> Tiarnas na hÉireann
    Didžioji Kunigaikštystė iš Lietuva -> Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė
    Le Regnum de Jérusalem -> Regnum Hierosolimitanum
    Kilikioh Haikakan Takavorootiunuh -> Kilikio Haykakan Tagavorutyun
    Riki Norvegh -> Kongeriket Norge

    I(and other players too) would appreciate any help with these: Milan, Egypt, Aztecs, Mongols, Turks, France, England, Moors, Spain, Georgia.
    What I need is - the names of these kingdoms\states\factions in native languages(or languages that were used) in the end of the 12th century.

    @mega nix

    For me it's blantanly obvious were England is( even if it's called Anglo-something), I also know dead on that the spy is still a spy even if he is called Gestir. I'm personally a fan of those old names because it brings abit of charm into the picture. But I still see your (Mr Tokus pookus') point as far as lingua franca go.

    Personally I see 2 versions: One which include what would be used at the time, while another version in modern English.

    Let's take Medieval Norway: Riki Norvegh, which was the formal way of addressing Norway for Europeans - in Latin. Each agent and named character would be named after formal native titles. This means Hirðtiorar instead of Family Members, and Leiðangr instead of army. Unformal situations like a scout telling you that you are attacked by France should be generic "You are attack be a frankish army". Borg instead of Fort, and Kaupmadr instead of Merchant, but that takes times (ergo it's secondary).

    Then let's take Medieval Norway in modern English: Kingdom of Norway. Each agent and named character would be named after native titles, but spoken in English. This means Hird Leaders instead of Family Members, and Leidang instead of army. Unformal situations like a scout telling you that you are attacked by France should be generic "You are attack be a French army". Fort and merchant would still be fort and merchant since it means the exact same.

    @ .ru
    Here is that Patrician thing:

    Family Member - Potente Patrizio
    General - Patrizio

    And .ru, most of those faction names which is currently used is in Latin, because that was the formal way of addressing it back in the day. It's like English today. there is a discussion at the old Text Overhaul mod. The spelling on the other hand is awful

    Agreed, I know that Latin was the main language in the whole Europe, but on the other hand I suppose it's impossible to find all the names in Latin, so that they were correct and with the right spelling. Those names I've added are all as they are in native languages, I took that from Wikipedia(for example, the Venice is now as it sounded in venetian,etc)
    P.S. I'll check the thread. Thx
