About the Empire
The Galactic Empire is a progressive-imperialist multi-gaming organization bent on bringing order and balance to online gaming through the reinstitutionalization of moral integrity and ethical boundaries. Sporting a comprehensive and concise social hierarchy and militaristic forestructure, the empire vows to crush advocates of disruptive gameplay by any means necessary. Contrary to popular misconception, the empire is not a “clan” and it is not a “guild”, but is an association – if not a coalition – of the willing, the firm and the resolute, all of whom are tired of the general consensus that is dismissive, if not tolerant of overcompetitive dogma dictating pseudo-elitism and the disruptive gameplay (cheating, exploiting) that is often associated with it. Players who refuse to be held subject to the indoctrination of the so-called community join the ranks of the Imperial Legion.
Unlike average associations or ideal guilds, imperials reject the notion that the Galactic Empire is a “clan” or anything of the norm. This is proven true by the empire’s comprehensive social hierarchy, embellished by the ideology and political influences that have been the focal point of its drive since its inception in 1997. Ever evolving, the empire’s social hierarchy stresses an individual-centric paradigm, repudiating most collectivist approaches and encouraging improvements in rank or status through determination, consistency and overall contribution. The social hierarchy itself, spanning from the most common titles to the highest, secures a steadfast and fruitful online gaming society that is not so prone to the squabbling often associated with troubled bureaucracies and oligarchies.
Pax Impera, or Imperial Peace (peace through fear, derived from the Roman empire’s Pax Romana) is a doctrine that originated in 1997 under Darth Morbious in the Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II area of the MSN Gaming Zone, which existed from 1995 until 2004. Widespread dissent against the reigning Galactic Republic concept, established by Akan Kalydron and the first Jedi Order in 1995, led to diminishing faith in the republic system and the ideology of online democracy. In fall 1997, just following the Jedi Order’s victory over the Hell’s Jedi (HJ) rogues, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was launched. By that time, the Hell’s Jedi guild’s lone survivor, Darth Morbious, sought to establish the concept of the “totalitarian republic”. Initially thought to be an oxymoron, it was defined by Morbious as a system of balance between a bureaucratic body that legislated and a single supreme authority that moderated. This unique system fused together the cohesiveness of a republic with the resolve of an imperialist state. It later became known as progressive imperialism, the official ideology of the Galactic Empire to date.
Although the empire takes root in the Star Wars fictions, its actual ideology has been a rapidly evolving one based on real circumstances. Most notably, much of the imperial doctrine to date is directly derived from the radical standards of the Sith Order. The Sith Order was a surreptitious sect, if not secret society established by Darth Morbious prior to the inception of the empire. It was widely recognized as his primary affiliation. Though it initially was contrived of Star Wars relevant beliefs, the order itself was gradually reshaped as certain realizations came to light. After making intelligent observations about the intricacies of Star Wars lore and how individuals either were affected by it or were affected by similar sources, Morbious came to the realization that “the force”, according to Star Wars, was in fact a euphemism for psychology. Taking this into account, one could use psychology in the same logical sense that the force was used in a Star Wars film or fiction, manipulating events through people or people through events to achieve a greater objective for the sake of order. These ideas and associable possibilities culminated in Morbious’ realization that true power was not in the form of command and control, but in the form of passion. He believed everyone had their own unique power based on their passion and their individual willpower.
The Imperial Platform
Online gaming became popularized during and after the rise of the MSN Gaming Zone in 1995. The concept of peer-to-peer communication and multiplayer gameplay attracted a multitude of gamers, who had been accustomed to the privacy and seclusion of console games for the better course of the last decade. While many gamers found happiness in online gaming and took great joy in making friends and playing competitively against other gamers from remote distances, other gamers took pleasure in disrupting communities and sowing discord anywhere they could. It was this demographic of disruptive gamers that came to epitomize pseudo-elitism in online gaming; and their threat was left unanswered by the reigning authorities and the republic regime on the MSN Gaming Zone at the time.
Since its inception, the Galactic Empire has vowed to be the counterbalance to pseudo-elitism in online gaming. The organization vows to seek out and destroy online dictatorships, popularity contests and other detrimental factors online. While the empire will never defeat elitism, imperials and supporters of the empire alike will honor the organization’s existence as the opposition to pseudo-elitists, who may be quelled by necessary and pertinent methods not excluding the utilization of flagrant warfare, political intrigue and psychological warfare. Those who support the empire’s adversaries will be held accountable to variable extent for their actions. Although, the empire reserves the right to pass judgment on an individual basis.
History of the Galactic Empire
At the height of its rule, the Galactic Empire was comprised by seventy of the largest guilds and associations on the MSN Gaming Zone. The vision of a totalitarian republic was brought to light by the elusive Darth Morbious. He dared object to the general consensus that tolerated complacency. With the help of his apprentice, he amounted a great rebellion against Akan Kalydron’s Jedi Order and declared himself the first Galactic Emperor. The might of the empire was felt across an embattled MSN Gaming Zone. Loyalists of the unfathomably corrupt Jedi Order regime were targeted by the first proponents of the Galactic Empire. The proponents employed political intrigue and tactics such as insurgency and psychological warfare. The efforts of the proponents culminated in a legacy that would later to be known as the imperial movement against disorder in online gaming. Fear was only to be feared if not brought under control by the will of one. Today, that tradition continues.
On the MSN Gaming Zone in 1995, Akan Kalydron and the first Jedi Order had established the Galactic Republic. It was based largely on the concept of the Star Wars novels – a loose confederation of organized guilds, associations and communities banded together out of mutual interest in the common good. But the republic was also designated to keep order, and the knights of Kalydron’s order were poised to be peacekeepers who defended the public against hostile, overcompetitive gamers. By 1996, many gamers began to call the republic’s existence to question. Some had asserted it was nothing more than a roleplayer’s model for ideal peace through political supremacy. Others argued it was useless and nonsensical, as many gamers often felt they had to defend themselves from those who would have defended them, but had become the oppressors instead. The Hell’s Jedi (HJ) clan was formed of a few excommunicated knights of Kalydron’s Jedi Order, and had engaged the Jedi Order itself in a cyber war between 1996 and early 1997. Although the HJ clan was defeated, one member remained.
Darth Morbious, apprentice to HJ_Palpatine (the HJ clan’s leader), emerged as a polarizing figure in the aftermath of the HJ war. He began his legacy as an outspoken opponent of the Jedi Order’s peace doctrine, challenging its tranquility with the reality that true enjoyment of online gaming could have only come through adversity. He argued that while times of peace and tranquility underscored people’s highest virtues, only through conflict and adversity did anyone realize true passion; and only then were the true feelings and thoughts of an individual ever really revealed. He further argued that the democracy proposed by the republic was dysfunctional, in that those who were more aggressive or more manipulative were typically able to increase the number of their supporters exponentially, undermining the genuine interests of the silent and the carefree. Morbious proposed that the only truly honest system of government was an imperialist regime. When Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was released in the fall season of 1997, he appointed his student, Darth Exodus, to lead his imperial army. The general enthusiasm in the game helped bolster the imperial army’s numbers extremely fast. Before long, Morbious proclaimed himself Galactic emperor and declared open war on the Jedi Order and anyone who supported the republic.
Widespread dissent against the republic helped the newly established Galactic Empire achieve a great alliance of clans and other associations, which very quickly evolved into the Imperial Senate. An intense cyber war, in and out of game, was fought between the empire and the republic (and subsequently between the knights of the Jedi Order and the dark lords of the Sith) for the next year or so, climaxing in the so-called “Battle of Bespin” in 1998. The last confrontation between the republic and the empire was fought in the “Bespin” lobby in the Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II section on the MSN Gaming Zone. Particularly, it was where Akan Kalydron confronted Darth Exodus for the last time. Although Kalydron defeated Exodus in the duel, the empire emerged victorious overall. Kalydron would eventually be defeated by Darth Darchind the following year.
For many years to come, Darchind would stand as the true scourge of the MSN Gaming Zone. For his antagonistic demeanor and insatiable lust to induce chaos and discord, he became the center of all controversy in the Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II section of the MSN Gaming Zone; or the ultimate “bad guy”. Under Morbious’ directive, Darchind was unleashed on the opponents of the new order, dispatching their guilds one after another through a combination of in-game brutality and psychological warfare. He first established the Dark Empire (DE), initially guising it as one of several known factions that were formerly of the old Galactic Empire.

Membership Policy
This document has been written to encompass all of the general policies of the Galactic Empire pertaining to the maintenance of the integrity of its membership base. Any violation of the policies may result in appropriate action taken by the Imperial Administration. In the empire, membership integrity is valued over membership quantity, with sole, undisputed relevance to the sanctity of the empire’s platform itself.
All members of the empire are expected to follow the chain of command and show proper respect to authorities and executive order. Members may not engage in slander, libel or false witness, but are encouraged to speak their minds with utmost genuity. Freedom of speech is a virtue preserved and protected by the Galactic Empire on its dedicated servers, forum and any other online elements. Any deviation from the preservation of such by any reigning commander is punishable by higher authority. However, because freedom of speech is maintained, there is no restriction on profanity or racism. In any case when what is said by a member is deemed open to argument, other members may openly challenge the offensive statements at their sole discretion. By this token, all members are encouraged to be self-responsible.
The Imperial Military and all its divisions are the backbone of the empire’s might and are responsible for the execution of the empire’s ideals throughout its gaming factions. It is built on a strict chain of command split evenly between the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA) and the Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN), accompanied by sub-divisions belonging to each. Members who enlist in the Imperial Military are expected to follow the lead of military authorities, who will train and educate them in the ways of combat and all feasible warfare against the empire’s adversaries. Members are free to choose whichever division they wish to join. However, unless exceptions are made by the Imperial Administration in the case of developmental factions or such, the member will automatically lose the equivalent of one rank. This initiative helps to prevent the divisions from becoming inflated. After demonstrating at least satisfactory character and understanding pertaining to the next rank, a member may receive a promotion from the military high command of his or her division, if not from the Imperial Grand Director. Members who act out of turn or demonstrate purposeful or belligerent intent against other members or authorities may be demoted by at least one rank equivalent. Continuing offenders may be dismissed from the Imperial Military or the Galactic Empire itself; and may or may not rejoin in the future after their circumstances have been evaluated. All active members of the Imperial Military may not hold dual membership with any other affiliation, group or entity in the same game where the empire operates. Members found to hold dual membership with other affiliations, groups or entities will be issued a mandatory summon to leave the other affiliation, group or entity. Failure to comply will result in the immediate termination of membership.
How to Join
If you are interested in joining the Galactic Empire, it is imperative that you make an informed decision, and that you join for all the right reasons. Many gamers seek to join the largest clan or guild entity that they see. By all accounts, proponents of the empire do not regard the organization as a clan or guild, but as a free, non-profit association dedicated to what is very much a political movement against iniquities to which imperials object so passionately. Membership in the Galactic Empire is heavily based on strong standards, both morally and ethically, as well as on circumspect recruitment criteria and protocol that all recruiting officers in the organization are expected to follow. Ideally, the empire looks for players who support the imperial platform and, more importantly, advocate (or wish to advocate) the preservation of moral integrity and ethical boundaries in online gaming. Cohered, these values translate into the virtues of fair and balanced gameplay and an environment free of cheats and exploits. However, because of the impossibility of completely stopping cheats and exploits, members of the empire must be prepared to train and adjust to countermeasures and necessary tactics. Though in retrospect, the impossibility of stopping cheats and exploits should never be taken as a cue to be lax in enforcement against them. It should also be no way a suggestion that the empire’s cause is one of futility.
Joining the Galactic Empire means to be conscripted to a division of the Galactic Empire itself. The Imperial Legion, formerly known as the Imperial Military, is comprised by the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA) and Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN) divisions. Since their inception in summer 2001, both divisions have been the cornerstone of the empire’s might throughout the Jedi Knight series. Whether you join the GIA or GIN divisions will be determined by which game(s) you play most. If the game(s) you play most has a GIA or GIN establishment or majority, then it is likely you will be assigned to one of the two divisions on that specific basis. Primarily, the GIA division encompasses general ground-based combat while the GIN division encompasses flight, guns and vehicular combat.
To join the empire, simply contact an existing member or register an account on our forums. In the appropriate divisional recruiting forum listed under a respective area of involvement (a game), post a thread requesting admission. In the thread, be sure to explain your name, your background and experience and why you wish to join the empire. Please note that personal skill level is always irrelevant in the recruitment process.
