    Default unrest in Briton capital

    Hey guys,

After downloading the latest version of you excellent mod, i started playing with the Britons. But why do they get a 30% unrest penalty from the start of the campaign in Calleva (and Isca)? Is this intentional? I thought it was weird because this is their capital and Isca is the town closest by their homeland.

I'm glad you're enjoying the mod!

That's interesting...hmmm, could you pull up the settlement screens and tell me what type of unrest it is? Is it related to culture, squalor,...? I have a hunch, but I'd like to hear what you've got there.

Its not distance to capital, culture or something like that. Its jut the normal unrest type.
In my campaign (261BC) there has been a 30% unrest base in Calleva and Isca always. Now in Calleva its 40% because my FM has severe trait (+2 unrest) and in Isca its 45%, because that FM has severe and teetotal (+1 unrest) traits.

I made this screeshot from a totally new campaign. Did nothing at all, but the 30% unrest is already present.

Just did a little test. I tried them as is and yes, they have 30% unrest.

So, I go to descr_regions and to britannia_superior and change "gauls" to "romans_scipii". This got rid of the 30% unrest.

I think you mean the descr_regions file in the world > maps > base map right? So all the towns in 'Culture Britons' should have gauls replaced by roman_scipii to give the right culture I guess. But will changing this be save game compatible? Otherwise i can handle a little unrest..

That would possibly remove the unrest you're getting from the British Isles, yeah.

Hmm changed the file, but the unrest remains. In my campaign and also for new game.

Oh yes, you need to delete the map.rwm file which should be located in the same folder. Alternatively, you can run the campaign_map_reset batch file which you should find in the first part of the ExRM folder.

    No problem
The Britons don't really have too much trouble with unrest, mainly because they are so isolated and they don't have to worry about anyone else. Still, 30% unrest in your capital isn't right.

Yeah, it was more of an annoyance than a problem.

Something else i found remarkable though, is that i can train Gallic Light cavalry at aux 2, but in Britain i've to wait to aux3 to train any kind of unit.

    Peasant: Who are the Britons?

King Arthur: Why, we all are. And I am your King.

Peasant: I thought we were an autonomous collective?

I believe King Arthur's repression of the proletariat is the cause of the unrest

I think Testicles is probably right here.

As for the training oddity, we'll try to get that smoothed out in the next version. They probably shouldn't have been recruitable as early as Aux2.

Just conquered some german lands, and there at lvl2 aux i can train germanic spearmen and also the light cavalry. Perhaps adding the briton skirmishers to lvl2 aux building would be a good idea.

PS what did you do to the diplomacy? Because.. it works! (well at m/m that is, but still )

Hmmm...looks like I knocked everyone down to the L2, then. Eh, must have forgotten the Brits. Adding the skirmishers is a good idea, too--they should have been recruitable at L2 from the get-go.

Well, all I did was rebalance some of the core attitudes between factions. Oh, and add DimeBagHo's force-diplomacy script, but that doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

No, I didnt even know that there was a FD script. The factions just made logical decisions regarding to diplomacy and kept their alliances. I'm not used to that.

Oh, good. We always shoot for that, but it's so hard to get the AI to behave rationally. (Hence the FD script.)
